Father God, I honour and worship You with all my heart and all my soul. Jesus Christ, I glorify Your Holy name. You are my redeemer, the one I trust with all my heart. Holy Spirit, You are my every breath. Amen!
Living life is just awesome, when all goes well and according to plan. However, when things go wrong or challenges get more and more, people sometimes tend to think that life is not fair and God does not exist. We often hear of people saying that God was not around when a baby was raped or when a flood destroyed a whole city. These questions are real for many because that is what they feel and if one self have never experienced such trauma in our lives, we can’t know how it really feels. I do however believe that when life throws these challenges at us we should step back and allow God to reveal Himself to us and for that we need to become less and God more.
When we are in situations where we are in a meeting at work or in a discussion with friends, family or colleagues and we find ourselves in a difficult position to comment on something, not knowing what to say, we need to stand back for a moment and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the next step or words to us. For us to do that, we need to become less and God more.
Looking into our finances and seeing a challenge in having to pay expenses or saving for something special, often leaves us wondering what are we doing wrong that we are just not getting ahead of the petrol hikes and constant increases in food, housing and daily costs. To understand this and to get clarity of how to plan well in our finances, it starts with us becoming less and God more.
Facing the challenges of bringing up children especially in their teenage years leaves many feeling despondent and in some instances like they have failed. People are challenged with a lack of respect, judgement and being pushed aside. However, God made all of us and knows our hearts from when we were created, through puberty, our young adult life and until the day we leave earth to go to heaven. He understands how the human mind works and for us to tap into that knowledge, we need to become less and God more.
We fall in love and then we want to get married and have children. The first feeling of being in love is indescribably special. Once married, we face our loved ones on a daily basis and realise that we are all just human with our own likes and dislikes, and definitely not perfect. As the years grow by, we become so comfortable with one another that we sometimes forget who we are and say things to hurt when we are hurt. We “bite” each other unnecessary and don’t always think before we speak. To stay in love and to stay calm in a relationship that needs to last forever, we need God’s guidance and help. Therefore, we need to become less and God more.
When we read the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis, we realise how by being humble in all the challenges he faced, he continued to hear God’s voice for his life. Irrespective of being hated by his brothers, being thrown into a pit, sold as a slave, locked up in prison for something he didn’t do, he never gave up. He continued hearing the voice of God just as that first time in a dream when God showed him the life that was ahead of him. Knowing God’s heart, he trusted Him even when things went haywire in his life. That dear reader is becoming less and allowing God to become more. Amen!
Then there was Esther, a Jewish heroine who became the wife of a Persian king. She gave all of herself and by humbling herself, she allowed the right things to happen at the right time in the right place, saving the Jewish people. This could not have been easy and definitely is a good example of trusting God through humbleness. Amen!
I have learnt in my 42 years of life that God loves me so much, He humbled Himself as well by giving his only son to die for me (John 3:16). Oh what a wonderful God we serve. Through that same humbleness, Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, he ate with the people not highly esteemed, and he touched the lepers and stayed in normal homes not fancy inns. We serve a God who wants us to know His heart and His plans for us. He wants to reveal Himself to us no matter who we are, what we have or where we stay. However, if we live only a life that involves me, myself and I, without hearing His voice and His purpose, we are lost. John 3:30 says “He must become greater; I must become less.” If we want to have success, live in abundant prosperity, experience peace, have freedom, be loved and live life to the full, we need to become less and God more. Then we will hear His heart and find answers for many things we do not understand in life. In turn, that will grow our faith so that where we do not have answers for all the things in life, we will be able to trust God unconditionally.
“Lord, you’re beautiful. Your face is all I seek; and when Your eyes are on this child, You grace abounds to me.”
I choose to be less Lord, please be more in my life. Please take over my every thought and action. Be my everything Lord, be my everything; for then I know I will know your perfect will for me. Amen
Lots of love in Jesus Name

PS: Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version. If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly. A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your Bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible. This does not always occur, but happens in some instances.
