Many people talk about the great miracle of God parting the Red Sea for the Israelites, which was indeed one of the greatest miracles of all times. This miracle also indicated the beginning of the Israelites journey to the promised land.
What is interesting though is that not a lot of people talk about God drying up the Jordan River 40 years later. This was such an amazing event, since the river was in flood when God made this happen, making this miracle just so much more powerful. You can read about this great story in Joshua 3.
When God dried up the Jordan River, only a few who witnessed the Red Sea miracle, was still alive, so God came and confirmed His promises again, showing His power and abilities to the Israelites and removing the final hurdle into the promised land. This was of cause also a way for God to come and strengthen the faith of the Israelites.
My friends in Christ, the God that went with Moses through the Red Sea and the God who went with Joshua and the Israelites into the Jordan, is the same God you and I serve today. God parted the Red Sea and dried up the River Jordan, but for you and me, He gave Jesus Christ, His Son.
For the Israelites, the parting of the Red Sea and the drying up of the Jordan River, was a symbol of a promise fulfilled, a reminder of His greatness and mercy. Through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God is “opening up rivers” for us today, fulfilling His promise to ALL mankind.
This promise is what takes us through difficulties, helping us overcome our challenges, and becoming victorious in what we do. It is also this promise that teach us true love, mercy and faith.
We read in Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Whatever you are facing in your life right now, know that our Lord Jesus Christ is with you. Just like God parted the Red Sea and dried up the Jordan River, He can and will remove what ever obstacles are in the way of YOU reaching YOUR promised land. Stand firm in your faith and don’t give up!
Be blessed,
