A Focus on Christ Article – Jesus to my Rescue Ministries & Outreach

“Long hours at the office, everyone wants everything yesterday and why am I in peak traffic again?”  Does this sound familiar to you?  It is November and normally the time of the year when strategic planning for the next years to come takes place, people going on leave in December has a month to finalise outstanding matters, school children and students are writing exams and schools are having their year-end merit evenings and concerts.  When asking people how they are doing, many of them reply: “Stressed, tired, overloaded, not enough time etc.”  Yes!  That is November!

We already know that November is a busy time of the year and full of last minute ‘surprises,’ so remember today, if you are reading this article right now, it means you made it through last year November and hence, unless it is time for God to call you Home, you will make it through this year as well!  You just need to stand firm in faith (Isaiah 7:9) and proclaim, I CAN!

I wonder how Moses felt.  We read in the book of Exodus, how Moses received an instruction from God to go back to Egypt to free the Israelites.  I can just imagine what Moses was thinking.  How on earth will the elders believe him?  He said that to God (Chapter 4) and after God showed him the signs he would use to convince them, Moses kind of still tried to get out of it, saying that he has never been eloquent and that he was slow of speech and tongue.

Let’s read what follows from Exodus 4:11 – 17: “The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and He said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you.  You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.””

Moses was given a task, that to him, looked impossible.  Why would the Israelites believe him?  Furthermore, he was wanted by the Egyptians for murder and hence the pharaoh would probably not even entertain his presence.  Why then, would what God told him, be possible?  Because God said so and when God speaks, it is final!  What really stood out for me in this passage is that God heard Moses’ heart.  He could see and hear the fear that Moses had to see this plan through and although God got angry with Moses, He then told him that He would send back up, through Aaron.  What an amazing, loving and patient Father we serve!

You are reading this article right now and might be in a tight spot, whether it is your time, the amount of work you have, the need to balance your personal (family) and work life or the fact that you are bombarded daily with so many challenges that you feel overwhelmed.  Whatever it is, you need to know right now, that as God was with Moses, He is also with you (Joshua 1:5 – 9).  You see, God had a plan and He had someone to execute that plan; someone He created in His image and hence who had all the abilities to successfully see the plan through.  However, Moses doubted his own abilities and in fact, he then doubted God.

Dear reader, God believes in you, just like He believed in Moses.  You would not be where you are right now, having to do what you need to do, if God did not think you could do it.  Remember, you serve a limitless God and hence, do not become your own limitation.  Therefore, there is nothing you can’t do (Philippians 4:13), for God already qualified you, gave you authority through Jesus’ victory and now it is up to you to take control of every challenge and say:

  • God is on my side and Jesus is alive in me!
  • I am able, and I will make it!
  • I CAN!
