WHICH ROAD DO YOU TRAVEL ON?
Father God, thank You for being my Father and always being there for me. Thank You for believing in me and for Your promise that You will never leave me, nor forsake me. Jesus Christ, You are my Saviour and my best friend. I cannot live without You. With You in my life, life is worth living to the full. Holy Spirit, You reign in my heart. Thank You for Your wisdom, peace, love and guidance in my life. Amen!
So often we find ourselves in situations where we are put on a spot in having to make a decision and it does happen that we often make the wrong choice. Have you ever been in such a situation? I have many times, only to feel guilty afterwards and taking it back to God, asking His forgiveness. Sometimes these occurrences are regarded by some people as something small but for each person it is experienced differently. Let me use an example. Standing amongst people who are talking negatively and then end up judging the boss for instance, leave you kind of in the middle. There is a difference in saying how you feel or if you don’t agree and then badmouthing the boss. See, by crossing the line, we then in fact become judgmental.
When do you say something, agree to the conversation or just turn around and walk away. Fine line, I say. I have learnt that to say how you feel in whether you agree or not are above board. The minute you start judging by breaking the other party down, is what you should refrain from. Now, for those walking close to God and hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit, they will know very soon that they should have walked away long ago. The challenge is to do it before you fall into the trap. Let us use another example; you are on your phone more than what you should be whilst in office. You try to hide it from your boss, pretending it is not so. The boss trusts you and goes throughout the day not knowing that you did not give much attention to your work today. Although this is unseen, it was nothing but a lie. So when is it alright to lie?
Dear reader I am simply trying to set the scene of what are we busy with every day of our lives and what choices do we make if we know the difference between right and wrong. You see if you are not in a relationship with Christ, you still know the difference between right and wrong if you were taught from the Bible by Sunday school and where parents instilled moral values. So you might feel guilty when you have done wrong based on what you have been taught, but where people live a worldly life full of lies, no moral values, disrespect and deceit, they really don’t care what they say or do and neither do they feel convicted. That is why to argue with drunkards are simply a waste of time and energy….rather just pray for their souls.
However, when you are a child of God, have Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit convicts us and shows us where we have gone wrong and what we should avoid. What I am trying to say here is that some walk on the broad road that leads to destruction, but us who are saved should be on the narrow road that leads to life. Matthew 7:13 – 14 says: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” What I am trying to say today is that those who are not in Christ are already on the broad road to destruction. What about us who are in Christ? It is us who must stay focused and choose right in order to stay on the narrow road that leads to life.
I want to share something with you that happened to me this week. At work we were requested to go on an outing to a place, where in the Spirit, I and many others knew we should not go. However, being the wish of senior management, we were requested to go but when the name list came around, I prayed about it and marked NO next to my name, giving my reason. There were a couple of people who marked NO and I knew that for the first time in more than 20 years in the workplace, I stood up for my faith by not honoring management’s wish. Subsequent, once all responded, the final decision was not to go on the outing. Praise God! Now let me just explain my decision. The reason for the outing was acceptable, the topic was acceptable, the place where they wanted us to go was not acceptable and so confirmed in my heart by the Holy Spirit.
You see dear reader; time is getting closer and closer to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Satan disguises himself in many ways. We, who are in Christ, must be alert and awake to the devil’s schemes. He knows when he knocks on our door, we will chase him away and therefore he comes dressed in sheep’s clothes. Let us be on the lookout for his schemes. Remember, your choices have a direct impact on which road your travel. You can’t travel on both the broad and narrow road. Let us say NO when we have to and be honest and true to God and ourselves. There is but one road that leads to life and that road is narrow. My question to you today, which road do you travel on?
Lots of love
Princess K
PS: Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version. If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly. A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your Bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible. This does not always occur, but happens in some instances.
