Father, I worship You and You alone.  God of wonders beyond our galaxy, You are Holy, truly Holy!  Jesus Lord and Saviour, I am so grateful to you for saving my life.  Precious Holy Spirit, You reign in my heart and in my life and I desire only You.  Please reveal Yourself to me more and more!  Glory to God!  Amen!

As I was preparing to bring God’s Word at a function where the Lady Gracious 2011 finalists were introduced to the public at Irene Mall, the Word touched my heart and brought about change in me.  I was asked to talk about joy and as I started praying and preparing, the Lord revealed many things to me that I would like to share with you today.  When you bake a chocolate cake, you have to ensure that you use the right ingredients, correct?  If you use all the wrong ingredients, then you won’t get out a chocolate cake.  However if you use most of the right ingredients, but leave 1 out, it can result in disaster, for example no baking powder will mean that the cake won’t rise.  This made me think because that is exactly how our lives are.  The wrong combinations have devastating effects.  Let’s talk a little around the combinations we make in life.

Galatians 6:8 says that “the one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction.”  This scripture made me think of how we live our lives and how by having the wrong combinations, destruction is inevitable.  The first combination God showed me is that No Jesus plus Wrong decisions equals Destruction with no inheritance, sorrow and ultimately death.  Now many people are caught up in this combination, but by the blood of Jesus I pray that they will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

The second combination revealed to me is Jesus plus Wrong decisions equals Destruction and Sorrow.  You see dear reader, when you have Christ in your life, you are saved by the blood of Jesus and we praise God for that.  What I am asking you however is, why do so many reborn Christians not experience joy in all areas of their lives?  You see, having Jesus in your heart is where it all begins, but it is more than that.  Remember that satan is in this world and that he is out there wanting to cause destruction and to steal our joy.  He is not afraid of you or afraid to approach you.  Think about it for a moment.  He approached Jesus Himself when He was tempted in the desert.  What is he then afraid of?  He is afraid of the truth that Jesus overcame Him on the cross.  He is afraid of the truth that Jesus overcame death, illness, sorrow, pain and any other challenge that you possibly can think of.  The blood of Jesus is the proof.  Praise God, praise Jesus!

In light of the above I am then asking you today what wrong combinations do you have in your life that is stealing your joy?  I am listing only a few to give you some idea to get the mind going:

  • JESUS + Unforgiveness = Destruction & Sorrow
  • JESUS + Lies = Destruction & Sorrow
  • JESUS + Pornography = Destruction & Sorrow
  • JESUS + (what else you choose wrongly) = Destruction & Sorrow

Dear reader, the question is then, what is the right combination to ensure constant joy in your life?  You see challenges there will be, but it does not have to steal our joy.  Gal 5:22 talks about the fruit of the Spirit.  Do you realise that, with giving your heart to Jesus, He deposited the fruits of the Spirit into your life, but are you exercising it?  No matter what the circumstances, Jesus plus exercising the applicable one or even all of the fruits of the Spirit, equals joy.  I can illustrate it as follows:

So now we have the right combinations, but it does not stop there.  You now have to LIVE and BE joy!  Jesus is the foundation, break with the past, know who you are, take authority and claim prosperity.  Amen!  I leave you with the words from a book by Marianne Williamson and the same words quoted by Mr Nelson Mandela saying:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

With lots of love in Jesus Name
