Father, in the name of Jesus, blessed be Your Name.  Jesus, I glorify You and declare that You are my Saviour and my King!  Holy Spirit, You reign in my heart! Amen.

Dear reader, I can hardly believe that the holiday season has gone and that things are back to normal routine with kids attending to their studies and us all back at work.  During the festive season we were blessed to visit Yzerfontein on the West Coast of South Africa, and I once again realised the power of God whilst sitting on the rocks and taking in the beauty of the sea.  Praise God for His creation!

During December 2011, I received word that 2012 would be a year of NEW BEGINNINGS.  Praise God for new beginnings because that means that the old has gone and the new has come (2 Cor 5:17).  I would like to share this message with you, the best I can, without being physically present in your living room to discuss the greatness thereof with you.

The definition of the word new according to the online dictionary is “not existed before / introduced recently / for the first time and ….fresh.”  Looking up beginnings it says “process of coming or being brought into being.”  Wow, and then it struck me in realising that with Jesus, He makes all things new.  You see, although Jesus died on the cross and overcame death thousands of years ago, the power of God is so strong, that even when today after thousands of years you ask Him to heal you from something, it is instantaneously.  Yes, the power of God kicks in immediately and brings life, hence new beginnings.  It is the same with the Bible.  The power of the Word is effective even as we speak, immediately changing Your circumstances, once you accept Christ and His Word, although written thousands of years ago.  This is mind blowing!  Praise God from whom all blessings and new beginnings flow!

God revealed to me that NEW BEGINNINGS is part of a 5-point plan.  Allow me to share this plan with you and I trust that it will change the way you think and approach things in the future.

Take a step and ask.  New beginnings starts with knowing that you want to change and making the choice to change, by taking the first step and asking God to help you in this process.  One of the many scriptures to guide you is Luke 11:9 – 13 which speaks about ask, seek and knock and the door will be opened for you.  Dear reader, without taking this step, the change process will take so much longer as we often find ourselves in denial that we need new beginnings, whether in our thoughts, approach, planning, time management, commitment etc.

Faith.  Once you have taken the step by acknowledging that you have to change and asking God to help you, the next step is faith.  Two of the many scriptures to guide you are Isaiah 7:9 and Romans 10:17.  Now this step is crucial in the process of new beginnings as we often get stuck here.  We ask God and hand it over to Him, but when things takes time or we don’t get the answer we want, we tend to start doubting and asking God what’s going on.  Hence we have taken it all back from Him instead of leaving it in His capable hands.  So, we often find ourselves moving back and forth in asking and praying and not moving forward.  I want to encourage you today that even if you have been asking and praying for 10 years, it doesn’t mean it is not going to happen.  Things sometimes take time and if we look at the story of Joseph in the Bible, his new beginning was in process for many years but he did not lose faith, and the victory was sweet.

Rain.  The next step in the 5-point plan is rain.  Often when it rains, it is accompanied with lots of wind, thunder and lightning with very dark clouds.  But once the storm has passed, it is quiet and the rain has left all things beautiful, clean and with a smell of freshness.  One of the definitions of new is “…fresh.”  Praise God!  You see dear reader we often expect God to just send the rain so that everything in our lives change.  Yes, He can do all things but remember true change comes from a choice you make.  God does not force Him on us.  He loves us too much to do that.  He gave us the gift of choice and wants us to make the right choices and to ask Him to help us do it.  If you want it to rain on your life, start with step 1 and 2 and do it with a true and faithful heart.  One of the many scriptures I would like to share with you in this regard is 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Freedom.  Once it has rained on you, you have been changed forever (2 Corinthians 5:17), and will never be the same again.  This means that you have been made free from the past and are now facing new beginnings.  The scripture that I received here is Galatians 5:1.  What is important in this step is that you must accept and stand firm in this freedom.  When satan wants to attack you with lies, go back to the truth, the Bible, and continuously claim your freedom in Christ.  Never give it away!

Journey.  The final step in the 5-point plan is journey.  Once freedom stepped in and you acknowledge it, you must step out into the world, changed.  Here new beginnings take on its form and remember Jeremiah 29:11 say that God only has a plan to prosper you.  This journey is full of mercy and grace and might not always be easy, but will be worth it.  You can also read 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Dear reader I trust that you will, just like me take this 5-point plan and come into realisation how to step into new beginnings.  The plan is a circle of continuation and with every journey taking on a challenge the plan starts all over again.  Remember, you can’t do this without the Holy Spirit guiding you and giving you the strength.  All new beginnings start with Jesus Christ.  If you don’t know Him, go on your knees right now and ask Him into your heart by praying this prayer:

Jesus Christ, I acknowledge You as the son of God and that You died on the cross and rose again after you overcame satan and death.  I ask you to now come and live inside my heart, to forgive my sins and to change me forever.  Amen.

Once you start new with Jesus, get involved in a church or ministry where you can grow and be strengthened with other believers in Christ.  Remember satan don’t want you to change, so always be on your guard and continuously claim victory in Christ.

Enjoy your new beginnings.

With lots of love in Jesus Name

PS:  Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version.  If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly.  A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible.  This does not always occur, but has happened in some instances.
