Father, I bow down before you and acknowledge that You are God Almighty, the One who was, who is and is to come. Jesus Christ, you are my personal Saviour and I worship You and You alone. You are my best friend and You know every part of my heart. Holy Spirit, You reign in my heart. I love You and thank You for never leaving me alone. You are with me 24 hours a day.
I often wonder what God’s plan for my life is. I know that it includes plans to prosper me and not to harm me (Jer 29:11). However, when God sometimes puts me in situations which I never asked for, especially unprepared, I wonder why. It is human for all of us to want to be prepared before entering into anything new. If we have to attend a meeting, we want to prepare and at least know what it is all about. If we go shopping for groceries, we have already looked into our cupboards and know what to buy. The same thing counts with having to write a test or exam. Who really goes into anything unprepared?
A couple of year back, we had robbers entering our home and stealing most of our valuable belongings. They obviously watched us for some time and knew when we were not at home. So I praise God that no one got hurt. However, it was not a nice feeling to know that someone was in our house and even worse that they were watching our comings and goings. I was beside myself. I wanted an alarm system, electric fence, beams etc. So feeling the way I did, I was cross at the people of the world who did this to me. At that point in time, I was called by the pastor one night to assist him with a call out to a family who have just gone through an armed robbery. I first tried to get out of this one, but no one else was available to assist. On my way to the people I prayed and asked the Lord; why me? I never really got an answer but knew that I had to go. As I got there, I had feelings of my own and felt ashamed to go and pray for people when I was filled with so much anger myself. Once I got there, I didn’t know what to say or how to act. I just sat down and let them talk.
They were held hostage for most of the night and the wife was threatened with being raped. I kept saying to myself “what will I say to them?” However, once I sat back and allowed them to share their emotions, I realised something. God’s plan was for me to be healed at the same time as I was sitting down listening to the people. You see, God needed His presence in me to fill that place. I asked the Lord to send someone else but He said go. I said, “me?” He said, “yes, you!” I never really was ready, but all God asked of me was to be willing and the rest He handled.
Another time, I was asked to go and pray at someone’s house, as they were experiencing evil things happening in and around the house. Again I said, “me?” and again God said, “yes, you!” I tried to motivate why a pastor should rather go, I mean that is in their category, right? However, God had other plans for me. Once there, He guided my husband and myself to pray and declare His love and presence. We realised that it is not about negotiating with evil spirits, but to declare the love and life of Christ, which overcame the devil and all his darkest schemes.
My question then to you right now is whether you keep postponing what must be done. Do you also ask the Lord, “me?” Well, you see dear reader; it is all about having confidence in yourself. It starts with confidence in knowing who you are and who you belong to. It is about discovering the power within you to move mountains in your life. I have to ask right now, do you believe in the One who send you? Do you believe that you have all the skill, ability and knowledge through Christ to face anything? Do you realise the power inside of you? If not, I pray that you will come to full realisation of your true identity.
If you have not invited Christ into your heart, don’t delay, pray right now and ask Him into your heart. If you already have a relationship with Jesus, then stop doubting in who you are. Stop believing the lies of satan, telling you that you are worthless. Remember your true identity and all the truth that comes with it. Stay focussed and remember God would not put you in a position that he thought you could not handle. Furthermore, stop doubting God’s choice to send you to an assignment. Sometimes He gives you time to prepare and other times He wants you to trust Him unconditionally. He says in John 15:16 “you did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit…..”
So dear reader, do not be surprised when God calls you, unplanned. You might not be ready according to yourself, but ask Him, “me?” If He says, “yes you!” then go. Do not hesitate or wait. Just go and do as He directs and the Holy Spirit will lead you all the way. He believes in you. I believe in you. Believe in yourself.
With lots of love in Jesus Name

PS: Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version. If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly. A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible. This does not always occur, but has happened in some instances.
