MAKE EVERY SECOND COUNT

Father, how is it that others do not believe that You are alive.  I believe in You.  I have faith in You!  I glorify You!  Jesus, I declare today that You are the Son of God, who came in flesh and died on a cross to save the people of this world.  I believe You overcame death and satan and that You rose on the third day.  Yes Jesus, I believe that You are alive and I know You are alive in me.  I speak to You every day.  Holy Spirit You set my heart on fire.  You turn me upside down every day, for the good.  My life would be empty without you.  You are my every breath.  Hallelujah!  I am alive because of Christ.

A couple of weeks back I watched a movie based on a true story and the reality of how easily in today’s life people simply kill for a cellphone or money or just for “the cause” they say.  Children are being used as soldiers to play the war game of life so that adults can get what they want.  Innocent people die every day and we read how a child left for school and never returned.  We read of people going to work and a car accident occurred with loss of lives.  Some time back it was on the news of an aircraft that took off from the airport full of passengers, never to return.  I looked at the faces of the people crying and it touched my heart, for none of them were prepared.  Now thinking back of the last big tsunami that hit the Philippines, I remember people standing around, alone and not knowing where their loved ones was.  With nothing left, where to you begin to start your life all over again?  Again, there was no time to prepare for what was coming.  The loss was quick and the impact so great that no words can explain people’s pain.

When sad news hit us, it feels like a bullet went through our heart and it seems all unreal, like a dream.  We want to wake up and think that it was only a bad dream, that our loved ones are still alive and with us.  For many it is not a dream, it is a reality.  If you have been through these kind of challenges, you know how precious life is and that you need to make every second count.  Many say they still had to forgive and others say they still wanted to do this or that if only they had time.  If it never happened to you but to others close to you, you feel sad with them, but in time you move on and sometimes forget the pain that the others are going through every day.  If you know of no one going through these things, you watch the news and read about it and yes it makes you think twice about how precious life is.  However, many times after a day or two it is forgotten and life goes on.  We say we need to appreciate life and each other more every day, but do we?

Dear reader, I guess what I am trying to say in this article is that we are alive and that every breath we take is a gift of life.  Although we are saddened by so many terrible things happening in life, let us not wait for bad things to happen before we appreciate life.  Every morning and every breath is a gift.  God gave us life to live it to the full and we often are so busy living life that we don’t stop and appreciate life.  When was the last time you walked to your children’s rooms and whilst they are asleep you just stare at them, pray over them and declare God’s favor over them.  When was the last time you took time off from work to go and watch your child play sports or just to tell them that you are proud of them?  When was the last time you wrote a love note and put it in your spouse’s lunchbox?  When was the last time you said thank you to God for having all body parts and being able to see, smell, walk, talk, hear and taste the lovely food you eat?  We are so caught up in life that we miss the point of living it to the full, making every second count.

This month I am married for 25 years to the prince whom I have loved for the most part of my life.  I realised all over again that he is very precious to me and I can’t imagine my life without him.  Has every day been sunshine and roses?  Off course not, we live in a real world full of challenges.  However, we use these challenges to grow stronger in our faith in God and to grow in our love.  That is why we are still after 25 years, happily married.  A while back he had to go away for work like many times before, and I realised again how much I miss his presence in my life.  I did not just realise it, I told him.  My question out of this is whether you make every second count in your marriage?  Yes, sure every marriage and friendship has challenges but there is so much good in life but because we are distracted by the things that don’t work, we tend to not appreciate each other as we should.  You know what is so true?  Our partners wants to hear that they are special, appreciated and that we are proud of them.  It builds them up and we must be honest, the same applies to us.  Who does not want to feel loved and appreciated?

So, after a mouthful about things we all already know, let us take time to really appreciate life to the full.  Tell your kids how special they are and how much you love and appreciate them.  Do the same with your partners and friends.  Give that extra smile while you wait at the bank or travel on your way somewhere.  That day, that person might be in critical need of that smile and it might just save or brighten up some one’s life.  Say thank you to God and appreciate your health, job, family and finances every day.  Try not to get angry but if you do, take a deep breath, pray about it, forgive and move on.  Life is so short and this moment might just be your last one with someone special to you.

Above all else written in this article, make sure that you are not caught off guard that your time on earth will come to an end and you are not saved.  Allow Jesus to take over your life, to come and live in your heart as your personal Saviour.  Be sure that when it is your last day, you are ready to go home with Him.  Also make sure your loved ones are saved and that their souls don’t go to loss when it is their last day.  (John 17:3, Rom 10:13, Acts 2:21)  If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus don’t delay.  You can pray right now from your heart and ask Jesus Christ to come and live in your heart and to purify you from all unrighteousness.  Ask and receive His forgiveness for all the wrong in your life and choose to walk with the Holy Spirit in making the right choices about friendships and choices.  Join other brothers and sisters in Christ and stand firm in your faith.  Get to know the Lord and His heart through constant praise, worship, reading the Bible and prayer.  Amen!

I leave you with scripture from Eph 5:16 that says, “making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”  Right now, today, tomorrow and every day thereafter, I encourage you to make every second count. (Eph 5:16)

Lots of love

Princess K
