Dear Father God, I am so honoured to be called a daughter of the most High.  Thank you for who I am in You.  Lord Jesus, thank you that You saved me and that You are my best friend.  You are the only one who really knows my heart.  Holy Spirit, thank You for reigning in my heart.  I am lost without Your guidance in my life and the more I have of You, the more I want of You.  You make my heart beat faster every time I say Your name.  Blessed be the name of the Lord.  Amen!

When coming towards the end of the year, one realises that things are a bit rough at work in having to get everything done before the leave period starts.  Kids are writing exams and projects are closing off for 2011.  To add to this already busy schedule, time seems less and tempers rise as we are pressed from all corners of life.  Instead of going into a time of peace in December, it seems more and more as if people are challenged, rushed and fed up with life itself.  This then brings me to the crux of this article.  Do you feel fed up with life?  Are you tired of the same things happening over and over?  Well let us talk a little about being pushed to the floor with no desire to get up again.

So, here we are, lying on the ground, feeling sorry for ourselves because life is just not working out for us.  We realise that in some cases, it is because of wrong choices that we have made and we tend to think that God will not forgive us.  You might be at a point where you feel that what you have done or even what you are busy with is so disgusting, that you feel ashamed to even talk to God about it.  Instead of coming into His presence, you therefore rather pull back and then you slowly move further and further away from God.  I want to tell you right away, that you can pull away as much as you like, but it cannot change His love for you.

He cares about you so much and even though it might have been years, he is simply a breath away.  He is waiting for you, without judgement.  He is waiting for you to say His name, to call out to Him.  You don’t even have to look for Him; He is still in the same place, right next to you.  So dear reader, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get up from where you are lying in the midst of lies and deception from satan.  Simply stretch out your arm and Jesus will pull you up.  Remember it says in 1 John 1:9 “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Perhaps you are on the ground, not because of wrong decisions that you have made, but perhaps because of circumstances in your life.  Perhaps someone molested you and stole your innocence a long time ago?  Have you been a victim of abuse?  Are you lying on the ground because of destroying words that have been spoken over your life or is it that your worth has been determined by a parent who never thought you were good enough?  It could even be that your husband/wife cheated on you and now you are in a situation where you feel betrayed, alone and have a lot of debt because you have decided to step out of the relationship.  Yes, it could be that you are one of these cases described above and to add to it, you have married into or are in a relationship where this circle just seems to repeat itself.  The more you try to climb out of it, the more you feel your foot slip and you keep on falling back to the ground.  Is this you dear reader?

Let me encourage you today.  You see, you have a choice in this matter.  You can choose to stay on the ground because you have decided that your past or even the challenges that you face now, have overcome you and that you are under their control.  If you choose this option, you will continue to feel sorry for yourself, the spirit of depression will attack you continuously and the spirit of manipulation will manipulate you into thinking there is no way out even resulting in thoughts of suicide.  Is this what you choose?  However, if you choose life, it will change things around for you.  Remember Jesus is life, so by choosing Him into your life, WILL change things around for you.

The question is, do you believe it?  Come on, think about it for a minute.  Your past is in the past and no matter what it was that happened, you cannot change the past.  By living in the past, you actually give it permission to take control of you.  No, your past is behind you and your identity is not in the past or the things of the past.  If you choose Christ, your identity is in Him.  Does this mean it is easy?  No, for sure it is not easy, but it will give you a positive outlook in working through those things.  The same apply for whatever your challenges are right now.  Jesus is love and life.  Pray this life into and over this challenge and declare victory in faith.  It will however require persistence as satan will attack you, but always remember to whom the victory belongs.

So there we go.  You might say it sounds so easy, as it is not me sitting in the situation that you are in.  However, I know Christ and I know His Word is true.  He makes all things new if you allow Him.  If you choose to stay on the ground, you will be ruled by your oppressors but if you choose to get up and allow Jesus to reign instead of your past or challenges, the victory is yours!  So come on, what are you waiting for, get up and see your grief turn to joy (John 16:17 – 33)

With lots of love in Jesus Name

PS:  Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version.  If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly.  A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible.  This does not always occur, but has happened in some instances.
