Blessings without sorry

Dear friends in Christ,

I am so thankful to Our Heavenly Father for the opportunity to write another article.  I don’t think we realize how blessed we are just to know The Lord. Millions of people around the world have never experienced the love of God and don’t even have any idea what they are missing out on. Those of us who do know Him have to realize how great a privilege and honour it is to know our Maker and to know who we are in Christ.

Have you ever stopped to think about how amazing it is that we were chosen by Him first (Eph 1:4-5) in this: that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. (Rom5:8). You guys, this is WOW! God did not do this because He had to, He did it out of love and while there are so many people who don’t know this, we are blessed enough to know the Truth and to live our lives knowing where we will spend eternity!

What is even more mind blowing is the fact that eternal life is not all He gives us, even though that in itself is worth more than all our lives put together! Our God is so gracious, kind and loving that He gives us a whole Bible filled with promises of good futures, plans of hope and blessings for those who choose to accept His free gift of life.  Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich. And He adds no sorrow with it.”

A pastor on one of the Christian Television Channels spoke about this a while ago and He summed it up so nicely by turning our thoughts to people in the world today who are rich. Think about some of the celebrities and super rich folks all around the world. How many of them seem really happy to you? Yes they have the newest cars, biggest mansions and most famous friends in high places but how many of them seem really happy and blessed? In my opinion, not many of them at all!

Every week the newspapers and tabloids are filled with the newest scandals and gossip about the lives of the so called rich and famous and it’s almost never anything good that they report. The gossip columns are filled with reports of rival stars going at each other’s throats, infidelity, drugs, divorce, suicides, greed, jealousy, depression and the list goes on. It seems like the richer they become, the more their lives are filled with everything that screams of an utterly unfulfilled life!

It just makes you realise that money truly cannot buy you happiness; in fact, in many cases it seems like quite the opposite. The more money you have the more you want and the more you want, the less you find joy in anything other than getting to the top of the food chain and rolling in money. Why do people still seek to find their happiness in things like the Hollywood dream or earthly riches when it is so clearly not found there?

It just makes one realise that the riches that the world gives you is flawed, because with it there always seems to be some form of sorrow. Some of the richest and most beautiful and talented people in the world spend half their lives in and out of rehab to try and deal with a drug or alcohol addiction or exhaustion or their lives fall apart because every other week they go through yet another failed relationship or public brawl with their latest lover or their previous BFF. Dear friends, which is not a life that I want, ever! Of what use is it to search for riches in the world when the sorrow that comes with it is so overwhelming and steals so much of what life is supposed to be about? Riches found in the world is fruitless and empty and can never satisfy the heart.

If you are looking for true happiness, if you are looking for true riches without any sorrow added to it, go to Jesus and you will find that He has more riches in store for you than is imaginable. If God blesses you, you will receive your riches and it will be riches and abundance in every area of your life! God does not focus on earthly riches at all, but when He decides to bless you He will bless you in a multitude of different ways. If He decides He can trust you to be a millionaire and still serve Him above all else and not loose yourself in the empty promises of a full bank account, He may very well give you the millions you have prayed for.

If He doesn’t, then it means He knows that you will be more blessed in other ways and even then He will make sure that you will have enough to pay what you need to every day.  We need to understand that God’s main focus is to bless us with things that are going to be of an everlasting value to us and things that will bring us closer to Him and give us abundant life- not an empty life with dreams that mean nothing to us in the long run. God gives us riches that will have no sorrows added to them. He gives us the desires of our hearts if we delight ourselves in Him, but if our desires are going to lead us to sorrow and if our desires are for empty riches that will harm us and steal our joy, then our God expects us to trust Him enough to allow Him to bless us in the way He sees fit.

If we do that, He takes our desires and moulds them to fit in with what He wants to give us. A lot of money may very well be a blessing from God to one person, but for another, God may know that a lot of money will lead to disaster so He may choose to bless the person with good health or with a big family or something else. Who are we to decide which blessings we want to demand when the One who died for us knows exactly which blessings we truly need and desire deep in our hearts where only He can see?

Trust God and the blessings He gives you will turn to riches that you never imagined you would know AND He will add NO sorrow to it for everything that comes from God is good!

Prayer: Thank You Lord for the richness of Your love. Help us to trust You to bless us in whichever way You know will bring us the most riches without any sorrow. May Your Name be praised in all the earth .I live to worship You. Lord You are everything and You are all to me. Amen.
