Father, I glorify Your Name!  Jesus Christ, I worship You as my Saviour and King.  Holy Spirit You reign in my heart!  I love You Lord.  I need You Lord!  Amen!

Have you ever started something with lots of zeal and after a few times it was just not so interesting anymore? It is like having many New Year resolutions.  If you look back at all the plans you have made, starting with determination such as joining the gym and spending more time with your kids, how much have you actually seen through? I think we all tend to start things and don’t necessarily see them all through, leaving us with feelings of guilt or disappointment in ourselves.

When I look at the Word of God, there were so many good examples of people who went all the way, who did not give up.  In Acts 7:54 – 60, we read of Stephen who told the people that he was looking up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.  He did not tell a lie.  Even when they dragged him out of the city to go and stone him, he did not change his story.  He saw everything through until he fell asleep.

In the book of Genesis, we read of Joseph, who was betrayed and sold by his brothers and put in prison for something he did not do.  However, through all these challenges over a period of time, Joseph did not give up knowing God had a plan for Him.  He went all the way, God’s way, and then after standing firm, Pharaoh put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

Reading from the books of Matthew to John, we read about the ultimate example, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.  He knew God’s plan for Him.  He knew that Father God wanted Him to save the people of this world.  Jesus became man and lived in this world a simple and humble life and when the time came for Him to deliver us, it happened just as prophesied in the Bible.  He knew it was going to be hard and painful, yet not once did He lie about who He was.  He was arrested, tortured and then ultimately died a brutal death.  He cried out to His Father, who did not answer Him, for Jesus already knew the answer.

I am however sure Father God was crying, seeing His son on that cross because of disobedient, stubborn and sinful people.  However, Father God did not intervene, for to save us, He also had to see the crucifixion of His Son through.  What a painful thing it had to be for Him as well.  Jesus could have removed Himself from that cross, but He didn’t.  He went all the way – God’s way!  Three days later, he rose from the grave and today He is alive and we are alive because of Him!  Hallelujah!

Dear reader, what about you?  Do you have difficulty seeing things through?  Sometimes it is small things, yet if we tend to struggle with small things then how do we see bigger things through?  It is like a baby drinking milk and then when older they start eating soft porridge and then only when they are ready, do we introduce other foods like vegetables and meat.  You see if the baby doesn’t start with the milk, then how does the stomach and organs start preparing for something more solid?

Where are you today?  What are you facing?  Is it your work, marriage, finances or relationship with family and friends?  Perhaps it is all of them.  Dear reader, I want to encourage you today not to give up.  Pray to God for peace.  Pray and ask His guidance.  Spend time with Him and study the Word of God.  He will guide you and will strengthen you, but don’t give up on the truth and don’t give up on life.  You see Stephen, Joseph and our Lord Jesus all knew God’s plan and that is why they did not give up.  Know God’s plan for you (Jer 29:11) and to know that plan, you will have to ask Him and speak to Him.  He will answer you (Jer 33:3), just be patient.  Listen carefully to the truth, not what you want to hear, His truth for you.

Lord help us not to give up when we start things but to see things through no matter how hard or tough it might be.  However, let those things be things that we seek from You, things that has been confirmed by You.  Thank you Lord for not giving up on us when You were hanging on that cross.  Help us then to also not give up on life, our marriages, the challenges at work and our loved ones.  Help us Lord to go all the way – Your way!

Lots of love

Princess K

PS:  Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version.  If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly.  A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your Bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible.  This does not always occur, but happens in some instances.
