God, You are my Abba Father and I honour You.  Jesus Christ, You are the Lord of my life and I worship You.  Holy Spirit, You reign in my heart.  Glory to You Lord!  Amen!

Speaking to so many people, made me realise that most of the people that I am surrounded with, know God.  Not everybody made the choice to have a personal relationship with Jesus, but they believe in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  They go to church and read the Bible, however many have experienced an emptiness when it comes to feeling close to God and His promises.  I have given it some thought and after going back into the Word of God, I realise that even people with great faith in the Bible had experienced moments of doubt in God’s promises over their lives.

Reading in the book of Genesis 12 verses 1 – 9, God declares a blessing over Abram and his offspring.  Further in Genesis 13 verses 15 – 17, God confirms this blessing over Abram and his offspring again that He would give all the land to Abram that he, Abram could see as well as to his offspring and that he would make his offspring like the dust of the earth.  Now Abram received his blessing in faith, yet he did ask God in Genesis 15 verses 1 – 5 which offspring, as he had no children of his own.  Again God confirmed that his offspring will come from his own body.  “Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.”  In Genesis 16 verses 1 – 16, we read that as time went by, Abram and his wife Sarai aged and after not falling pregnant, they both doubted the promises by God that the two of them would conceive a child.  Sarai told Abram to conceive with her maidservant Hagar.  Not only did Sarai doubt, but Abram agreed to what Sarai said and conceived the child Ishmael with Hagar.

The story unfolds further when Hagar despises Sarai when she fell pregnant and Sarai then blamed it all on Abram telling him that he was responsible for the wrong she was suffering.  Hagar however submitted to Sarai after an angel of God spoke to her and told her that her descendants will be increased, to numerous to be count.  In all this, God never broke his promise.  Reading in Genesis 17 verses – 27 God again confirms His promise to Abram at the age of ninety, when He changes his name to Abraham, the father of many nations as God established an everlasting covenant with Abraham.  God also changed Sarai’s name to Sarah, the mother of nations and confirmed His promise of her bearing a son for Abraham.  Reading further in Genesis 21 verses 1 – 7, God did for Sarah as He had promised and she became pregnant and gave birth to Isaac.  Praise be to God, for His Word is true and He fulfilled His promise to Abraham at the age of one hundred.

Reading the story of Abraham and Sarah is almost like watching a movie on the big screen.  The difference however is that this is not a movie, but a true story of a promise, doubt, faith and the fulfilling of God’s Word.  Dear reader, is this not our lives as well?  How many times has God promised to look out for us, bless us, and provide for us?  However, because it does not happen in our way, our time and our frame of mind, we tend to think that He is not looking out for us and that He has forsaken us.

As a young mother, a prophetess in the Assemblies of God prophesied over my life and said that I was standing behind a curtain.  She said that I was peeking from behind but that the time was not right for me to come out yet from behind that curtain.  At that point in time I was challenged with a low self-esteem, which God sorted out more than 12 years back in my life.  Glory to Jesus!  Now I started thinking about that prophesy and would picture myself on a stage behind a big black curtain.  I would peek and see the masses sitting in their seats staring towards the stage.  What a frantic feeling.  What if I stepped out and I did not perform for them.

Would they laugh at me?  Oh, our God is so faithful.  He fulfilled His Word to me, and after about eight years He brought me out from behind that curtain to impact the lives of others, through one-on-one motivational sessions or motivational speaking in front of a group of people.  Glory to God.  Now, please note that in school I dreaded having to stand in front of other people having to say my orals.  I never liked crowds and preferred to be invisible.  Amazing how God looks at our hearts and potential and takes away fear and replaces it with His confidence.  Glory to God.

Dear reader.  Today I want to tell you to never doubt God or His promises to you.  If you are not sure what He has promised to you, go and read the Bible.  His Word is full of promises, just for you.  He only plans good things for you (Jeremiah 29:11).  He never plans bad things, but when satan comes along and bad things happen, God is there and turns those ugly things around for you.  Just like Abraham and Sarah, we often hear God’s voice and promises in our lives, but because we don’t see them happening, we tend to think it never will.  God is true to Himself and no Word coming from His mouth will return to Him empty (Isaiah 55:11).  Amen

Are you waiting on a promise to be fulfilled?  Is it finances or perhaps a new job?  Perhaps it is a loved one that must be saved.  Never ever give up on God.  Go seek Him in His Word and remind Him of His promises to you.  However, also investigate your own life to ensure that you have not doubted or moved away from God’s plan for your life.  Wrong choices result in detours sometimes.  However, God is true to His promise and it will be fulfilled if He said so (Isaiah 55:11).  Amen!

With lots of love in Jesus Name
