Your Story Matters (Part 3)

Your Story Matters (Part 3)

In Parts 1 and 2 we talked about how people of the past brought about changes which impacted lives forever and special reference was made to William Wallace, Mother Teresa, Moses, and Joseph. If you missed Parts 1 and 2, please click here!

Let us discuss two women from the Bible, who also through their life stories, are still impacting our lives today.

I want to encourage you to go and read the whole book of Esther in the Holy Bible. Esther sacrificed herself and as a beautiful Jewish woman, God chose her to become the wife of a Persian King, Xerxes. She was “prepared” over a long period of time before she had to appear before the King. He favoured her and although he had many wives, he made her Queen.

With the support and guidance of her cousin Mordecai, she risked her life to appear before the King in the attempt to save her nation. She succeeded but once again, not without a sacrifice. When you read the whole book of Esther, you can only be inspired by her unselfishness to save her nation, no matter at what cost.

Then there was Mary, the mother of Jesus. When we read the Gospels, we read how Mary, as a virgin, was chosen by God and through the Holy Spirit became pregnant and gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem. They lived in the city of Nazareth in Galilee. Mary was by Jesus’ side all the way to the cross. Mary was a mother who knew that the child that was born from her womb, would one day die and yet, she saw God’s plan through, although not having full visibility of it.

When we reflect on William Wallace, Mother Teresa, Moses, Joseph, Esther, and Mary, all of them were chosen by God. They had a purpose and went through difficult experiences to deliver on what God expected from them. I think that if they were given a chance to choose if they would do it again, they would say yes and purely because they knew that the difference they made would positively impact generations after them. Good to those who choose to learn from them.

Although we have history to learn from, in today’s modern world, people find themselves seeking guidance from worldly ways, such as social media. Nothing wrong with social media but let us make sure that we tap into the right things and people to learn from. When I read my Bible or read up on the heroes such as William Wallace and Mother Teresa,I realise the impact it has on all our lives today. Reading about it, warms my heart and makes me understand a little bit better the things that I am going through daily. Their stories were unique at that point in time, but what they went through is like what so many people go through in life today, just on a different level.

Look out for Part 4, the final part of this e-book, as we bring the topic of “Your Story Matters” to a close.

Love in Christ
