WHY COMPARE

“Father, You Are the one and only God! Jesus I give You all the glory! Holy Spirit, You are my life, Amen!
We are daily in contact with people from all walks of life, each with their own talents, skills and ideas. This means that life is full of creativity, initiative and innovation. The challenge however with this is that people tend to become competitive, often resulting in arguments over who is the best or who have done the most.
Dear reader. I would like to share one of my life experiences with you. As from a young age, I was suffering from an inferiority complex, hence thinking very little of myself. I studied hard at school and did very well, however I always wanted to do better. Now very few people knew about my challenge, as I hid it very well. As I grew older and started working, I was more often challenged with having to facilitate training, arrange work functions or even decorate tables for functions at church. I would always make an excuse, believing that I had no creativity to deliver a product of high standard. I realised only later in my spiritual walk with Jesus that I had to break free from an inferiority complex. One day at church, about 8 years ago, I was confronted with my challenge and I received prayer and counselling. I finally realised that only I could break free from this lie, but that I had to choose it. Right there and then, I decided that enough was enough and asked the Lord’s forgiveness for me proclaiming negative things over my life. That day I chose to speak positive over my life. Subsequently, I declared over my life that I am creative, I am innovative and that I do have initiative! I still pray it daily over my life, believing in every word. Glory to Jesus!
After making an open declaration of who I am, a crowned princess of the Holy One with creativity, innovation and initiative, I was approached within a couple of weeks to be a hostess for a table at a ladies tea. I gladly accepted the invitation and started praying to God for obedience in what to do and how to do it. Praise God for a wonderful event and although I was looking around me at what the others have done, I kept on saying thanking Jesus, I decorated this table to communicate a message from You to those around me. Then the events came in after another, with me being nominated for Ms Modern Woman 2007. As part of the competition, I had to decorate my own table that was judged. I prayed again and God showed me exactly what message to bring across. The event was a success and our table won the prize for the most creative table. Praise God! Dear reader, am I telling you this to boast about myself? Most definitely not! I simply want to bring a strong message across, that you are what you choose.
So why then do we feel inferior? It could be one of many things. Perhaps you were neglected as a child, were called useless or stupid at school or at home. Yes, perhaps when you previously tried something, someone laughed at you and you just never tried again. Dear reader, stop looking at the abilities, skills and beauty of others in comparison to yours. You don’t have to be anything else except that which God has chosen you to be. You are His, created in His image (Gen 1:27). Stop wanting to be like others and start looking at yourself through His eyes. Only when you realise your true identify, can you realise your full potential. You might not do things the way that others do it, but that is what makes us and humans unique.
I challenge you to break every negative thing said over your life, whether by yourself or by others around you. Break all things that was said to you in your past, the things that broke you down. Pray for the Holy Spirit to deposit into your life daily, strategic thinking, initiative, innovation and creativity to tackle any situation coming your way. Once you release yourself by opening up to the Holy Spirit in this regard, the opportunities will come. Remember that only when you declare something and open yourself open for the Lord’s guidance in this, can it materialise.
Dear reader, why compare? Come on, never doubt yourself and remember with one step in faith, you will be able to move mountains. Stop trying to be like someone else and except yourself for who you are and for what you can offer this world. You are valued, believe it!!
You can read the following scriptures in this regard
Psalm 139, Jeremiah 1: 17 – 19, Exodus 4:10 – 12, Philippians 4:13, James 1
With lots of love in Jesus Name
Princess K
