Wake up! Wake up from your sleep, from your slumber!

In this day and age Christianity has become a label, a hobby and a group people choose to belong to. It has become something people call themselves to ease their conscience. People think that if you simply believe that Jesus is the son of God that you have the stamp of salvation.

If you believe that Jesus is the son of God you are on the right track indeed, but hear me today, believing this alone will NOT save you. If you say you do believe in Christ as the son of God, you are hereby saying you believe in what Christ has come to tell us. This means you believe in what the word of God teaches and you are saying you believe that what it says, is true. So ask yourself this: if I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, do I believe in what He has come to tell me and am I taking it serious enough? Do I even know what He has come to teach me in His word?

The word says whoever believes that Jesus is the son of God will receive the gift that He has brought us, (John 3:16), yes, but the word also says in Matthew 7:21, and note, Jesus Himself said this: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Then in John 3:5 Jesus also says: “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” Here Jesus talks about baptism. James 12: 14- 17 says that faith without works is dead.

So do you see what you are committing to when you say that you believe Jesus is the son of God? When you say that you believe in Jesus, do you really know who Jesus is? This is only four things I mentioned. Do you know what God wants from you? Do you know how much He wants you to trust Him, how much of yourself He wants you to give Him? Do you know exactly how He wants you to treat the people around you? Do you know how to make Him the centre of your life, how much He really loves you? Do you know how many promises He gave you and what could stand in the way of that promises in your life?

When you choose Jesus, you must choose to get to know Him. You must choose to have a personal relationship with Him. How? It’s all in the word of God. Everything you need to know. Simply saying you believe in Jesus is not enough. When you say you just know someone, it doesn’t mean you are friends with that person. To be friends, there needs to be a relationship. So saying you believe in Jesus, doesn’t mean you’re saved. God does not only want to be your best friend, in fact, Matthew 10:3 says that you must love Him more than anyone else!

You have to be honest with yourself today, if you can’t say that you love God, then you are not in a personal relationship with Him. So if you find yourself in this position: go down on your knees and talk to Him. Don’t say what you think you have to say, say what is in your heart! Ask Him questions. Tell Him what your feel. Tell Him about all the things you have done wrong and repent. Talk to Him! He is your Father! You will only get to understand His love for you when you spend time with Him. Learn the teachings about Him in the word (I would suggest to start with the New Testament). You cannot love God if you do not know Him.

Yes, you will still make mistakes, and thank You Jesus for paying for those sins, but God knows your heart, He knows if you are really sorry when you say you are. He knows when you are really trying to please Him and when you are deliberately stepping out of His will. So wake up! There is no more time to waste, no more time to sleep. Wake up out of that slumber you’re in!

In Revelations 3: 1-2 the Lord says: “Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Prayer: Father thank You for your mercy, Lord thank You for Your word. Father I ask You to shake the foundation of your people, Lord awake them from their sleep. Lord, lead us to your people and use us as You need. We are completely Yours Father, let us serve you. Forgive us Lord when we sin against You and Father we praise You for the sacrifice You have made so that we may be with You. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
