The Golden Ring Thing

I’m sure many of you have heard of the ‘Silver Ring Thing’.  For those who haven’t, it is an international initiative for children and young adults who pledge to stay sexually pure and abstain sexually until they are married.

This morning I came up with ‘The Golden Ring Thing’.

Let me back up a bit and explain how and why I came up with this.

I was recently approached by a senior colleague who told me that I make him weak at the knees and he cannot focus on work when I am around. I am happily married, and he is also married. Yet, he disregarded this fact and still made these inappropriate and unwelcome remarks.  I suppose, if I was not in such a solid place in my marriage, I might have felt flattered, and that could open a door that leads to death!

So on my way to work this morning, I asked the Lord how I should let men know that I am not open to inappropriate relations. Should I perhaps wear a red ring on my right hand?  But then the Lord said: ” No! You already HAVE a ring – a golden ring – a wedding ring!”

What a revelation! It’s so obvious, and yet, often ignored.  So this morning I’m establishing a new club: The Golden Ring Thing.  I welcome all married people to the club, but as with most clubs, this one also has rule.

Club Rules:

1. Make God your first priority.

2. Focus your energy & attention on your spouse. (Date night! There is a battle for your partner’s heart – keep competing to win it!) 3.Grow together. (Many people divorce because they ‘grew apart’).

4. Forsake all others – parents, friends, colleagues, children…

5. Keep healthy boundaries.

Think before you put your wedding ring on next time. Join my club! Stick to the rules & let’s take marriages back for Christ!
