Father God, I honour You. Jesus who am I without You? I’m nothing, I’m no one! Holy Spirit, You are my life, my everything and I love and adore You!
Why do we as children of the Holy One find ourselves struggling with so many things in our life? I gave my heart to Jesus over 20 years back and still often find myself struggling when having to face challenges. Well, the reason is that we forget who we are, what we have received and the power that is within us.
I am busy arranging a fundraising event for Reach for A Dream and when the tickets were not selling as planned, I started feeling down and doubted the success of the event. Why on earth would I do that if I serve an extravagant God? Why? Well, I guess it is only human and therefore I started crying to God and said “Father what do You want from me? What do You want me to do? Could you possibly guess what He said? He said “Wait!” That is all, “wait!” Well then I started to negotiate with God and said: “Lord the function is less than two weeks ahead and should I not rather find another way to sell the tickets?” He responded again with “wait!” I waited and trusted like never before and let me share with you that, since then His miracles have been so evident that the event WILL be a success. Amen!
Why am I sharing this with you? Dear reader if we don’t understand the riches, blessings and power that have been given to us, we will continue to be lost in our faith. We need to believe in our God, ourselves and start using the power within us. The Holy Spirit is within us and guides us if we allow Him. So we should stop being so stubborn and start listening to His voice, even if it does not make sense.
This brings me to what I would also like to share with you today. Take time out and look around you. What do you see? I see a nation crying out for help because they often lack knowledge of who they are and what is theirs to inherit. I see many of us complaining about our cars, our jobs; our homes and that we do not have enough finances. In summary, I see very ungrateful people who simply don’t appreciate what we’ve got. I might sound very hard today, but it is because I myself have found myself in this position lately. I realised this week that I have running water in my house, I have warm water to bath in, I can cook food on a stove, switch a light on whenever I want to and have the comfort of my own bed in my own room. I can provide my kids with at least three meals and fruit every day. This means I am blessed out of my socks! But what do we do, we complain about our clothes, we don’t have money to eat out, we are not driving new cars, etc.
Well, I realised this week that I am actually very ungrateful and miss the whole point of living. We tend to live for ourselves, my car, my house, my bank account. It’s all about me and not us. As children of the Holy one we all share in His blessings and glory. That means we acknowledge that all we have belong to our Father and not ourselves. When we start realising this, we are getting somewhere. The Word says in Acts 4: 32 “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.” Furthermore, it says in Acts 17:24 – 25 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples build by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.” Wow, did you get this? It says God is not restricted and everything is His, everything! Amen!
Dear reader, we must stop boasting about ourselves. We must stop focussing on me, myself and I. If you want true blessings, start acknowledging who you are in Christ. When you gave your heart to Him, He opened up so much blessing over your life. Simply belief it. When you are challenged, hand it over to God, when you are in need hand it over to God. Start calling into your life the blessings already given to you. Yes, believe, stretch out your hand and pick it!
You might feel down today, like there is no way out. You might be challenged by health, love or finances. Stop for a moment and think! Don’t any longer say, I’m sick, I don’t have money or I can’t. If you have Christ, start saying I’m blessed, I have, I can! Believe it dear reader it is there for you and if you discover that you serve an extravagant God who has blessed you extravagantly, reach out to Him and pick it!
With lots of love in Jesus Name
