Love is a big deal. And to truly understand it, one has to have experience it.  As teens we experiment with a lot of things, and love is one of them.  Some of us do it because our friends are doing it, or perhaps because we’re lonely or sometimes it could be that we need someone to love us because we’ve never been loved.  Our yearnings for love and affection can be so deep sometimes that we end up looking for love in the wrong places and end up resenting ourselves, along with love and start to believe that true love happens only in movies.

But how do you properly define love?  1 Corinthians 13:4 describes it perfectly: “Love is patient and kind.  Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.”  It goes on to describe the true meaning of love; the love of Christ and not of the world.  The reality of the matter is this: no one loves you more than Christ.  No one has ever loved you more, no one will ever love you more and no one can ever love you more than Christ.  It’s easy to say to someone: ‘I love you’ but Christ not only said it but He demonstrated it when he died for you.

It’s not a necessity to have a boyfriend or girlfriend because Christ completes you.  In Him you will find peace and perfect love.  He loves you just as you are and will never turn against you.  It’s essential for us as teenagers to understand that the love of Christ will never wear out.  Our partners may hurt and scar us by the things they say or do but the blood of Christ heals us to perfection.  He cares so much for you that you’re every cry makes him cry too and vows him to avenge the one who hurt you.  Love like this can be found nowhere else and it should be cherished because it runs deeper than the deepest valley and towers higher than the highest mountain.

God bless, Nthability Patsa
