Part 2 and the final part of Mission Impossible. Part 1 looked at how, we have over the years witnessed missions impossible turning to missions accomplished and how people often forget to give God the glory for their success.

Let us look at some mission impossible testimonies from the Bible and how waiting for breakthroughs is often part of reaching mission success. There was Joseph, who received a vision, which was fulfilled only thirteen years later. We can mention Abraham, Moses and even Jesus Himself who had to wait for their respective missions to come to fruition. However, each of these ended in mission success. Furthermore, in all of these and many others, it involved a waiting period which required faith and perseverance.

To wait it is never really fun and it often results in doubt, questions and even anger. So yes, waiting has its own consequences. As we read in Joshua 5:6, the Israelites had moved about in the wilderness for forty years, until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the Lord and the Lord had sworn to them that they would not see the land He had solemnly promised to their ancestors, the land of flowing with milk and honey.

Abraham received a promise of an offspring and waited twenty-five years for Isaac to be born. Doubt slipped in and Ismael was born. Yes, Ismael was loved by God and Abraham, but was he not the promised child God was referring to when He prophesied into Abraham’s life. We read of the walls of Jericho that fell after the Israelites marched around the city walls once a day for six days and seven times on the 7th day and with the final blow of the trumpets, then only the wall came down and the city was taken. Then there was queen Esther who gave up her freedom, went through a process of risking her life, stood with her nation in fasting and prayer and it resulted in the saving of their nation.

We can add the blind who was prayed for and could then see, lepers that were healed, the dead brought to life and the ultimate, when death was overcome through Jesus Christ’s victory on the cross. In all these testimonies, there were waiting periods, with I can just imagine, various emotions and questions on why the wait. But you see, God is never late, as it says in Habakkuk 2:3 that “for the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”

So, no mission is impossible with God, but to ensure success, we must follow God’s plan and if it involves waiting, so be it. For all who wait, it costs something and includes things like, going through hardships, confidence, trust, hope, perseverance, patience and an unmoving faith that success will come.

What is your “mission impossible” right now? Remember for you, it may seem impossible, but God says to you today, to stop worrying, doubting, being impatient, pushing your own agenda and always remember that to say that you cannot, should never be an option. From all the testimonies shared above, success will come at the appointed time, and it will require you to persevere and keep your faith and confidence in God.

Romans 8:11 says that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is in you. Not with you, IN you from the day you are saved in Christ. Luke 10:19 says that through Christ, you have authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. Not some, but ALL! Joshua 1:5 says that God will never leave, nor forsake you. So, you are NEVER alone! 1 Corinthians 10:13 says that no temptation will overtake you. You will not be tempted beyond what you can bear and when you are tempted, God will provide the way out. Not might, but WILL!

We need to stop making excuses, for then our missions will remain impossible to us, not because they are impossible, but because we block our own success through doubt and disobedience. What must be, will be, according to God’s will and time, but do not block your victories because of getting stuck on your viewpoint that the mission is impossible. Remember nothing is impossible with God!

Love in Christ
