Do you deserve God’s forgiveness?

Maybe you have done everything wrong that you could possibly do, you have committed almost every sin there is to commit and you feel ashamed of the life you have lived. You are so far gone, you just can’t believe that you deserve His forgiveness. Maybe you have been living a good life and has always been focused on the word of God. You read the Bible, you go to church and you feel that you do deserve His forgiveness.

Well if you are in either of these positions, I can tell you this today: NO you do NOT deserve His forgiveness. It doesn’t matter how much good or bad things you have done, it doesn’t matter if you have gone to church a million times or never. You do not deserve His forgiveness. Do not look up at that pastor on that stage and think “He surely deserves Gods’ forgiveness and all the blessings God has for us” or look down on that rapist in jail and think: “He really doesn’t deserve Gods’ forgiveness” because there is not one person in this world now or has ever been, that deserves Gods’ forgiveness.

In Ephesians 2:4-9 it says: 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

In verse 8 and 9 it says “For by GRACE you have been saved through faith. And this is NOT your own doing; it is the GIFT OF GOD, not a result of works..” So this is one verse that makes it very clear that there is absolutely nothing you could do to deserve or not to deserve His forgiveness. You are made pure because HE paid for your sins. You are sons and daughters of the most high because HE bought you into His kingdom, NOT because of anything you have done, but because of His love for us.

You do not care for your children because they have done anything to deserve it, you care for them because you love them. This verse says that it is NOT because of your own doing but that it is a GIFT from God! So let go of what is making you feel unworthy of His forgiveness and let go of what it is you think makes you worthy of His grace, because it’s not about you, it is not because of what you have done, it is because of what HE has done.

Humble yourself and give into the love of God, because there is no greater grace, there is no greater gift, there is no higher God, He is the way the truth and the life and He has paid the highest price, not because you are worthy of it but because this almighty God loves YOU. Remember this; God doesn’t need you, He WANTS you!

Lord how great is your love that You would give us what we don’t deserve by taking the punishment we do deserve. Jesus I pray that every person seeking you shall find You in Your love Lord. That every person reaching out to You shall drown in Your love, that each and every one shall meet You on their knees. Father we humble ourselves before You today and we praise Your name for Your undying love. Thank You Lord! Amen!
