As teens, the choices we make today can and will affect the outcome of our tomorrow. And the choices we make today have to be thought through carefully because if not, the consequences could be disastrous. But how do you know what the right choice is? First of all, you have to make sure it’s really what you want. You cannot go and sleep with your boyfriend because he said you should. If you feel you don’t want to, say it: no. Don’t beat around the bush, let your no be a no (James 5:12).

Secondly, make sure it will benefit you for the better. Weigh the pros and cons and if the one outweighs the other, take it and work with it. And lastly make the choice and stick to it. If your friends aren’t happy with you not partying with them anymore because your priorities have changed, stand firm. It’s YOUR choice and they can’t dictate it. The same with Jesus. He too is a choice; he gives you the opportunity to choose. But when you do choose Him, know that there will be and must be some visible changes. Your friends might no longer understand you and accuse you of neglecting them. Jesus will wash you clean and all the mistakes of the past will be forgotten and the things that seemed so important then will no longer matter.  He will shower you with His divine love, and will accept you as you are. In Him you will find health, life and prosperity and you will never walk alone.

Even if close ones desert you, He will remain until the end (Psalm 27:10). Life offers many choices: the choice to have sex now or wait for marriage; the choice to take a gap year or finish school; the choice to go out partying every night or stay at home and study; the choice to have only one partner at a time or have multiple partners and run the risk of ruining your future; the choice to accept yourself as God make you or try to be a photocopy of the most beautiful girl in school. The choice is yours; choose wisely and make sure you can live with the choice you make today, tomorrow.
