Ps 46:10 says:  “Be still and know that I am God.”  Being still is more than just being quiet. The dictionary gives a number of other words to better explain this “still”, such as motionless, immobile, unmoving, at rest/standstill/halt, tranquil, stagnant, static, subdue and calm. The Today’s English Version says: “Stop fighting”.

We are so used to being busy, upset, fighting and restless that we can hardly hear God’s voice.  Do you take enough time to hear the quiet whisper of the Holy Spirit directing you? Are you motionless long enough to practice being in the presence of God?

ARE YOU QUIET ENOUGH THAT YOUR SPOUSE CAN HEAR GOD’S VOICE?

After you spend quiet time to hear God’s voice, you should also be quiet enough to allow your spouse to hear God’s voice.  If there are areas in your spouse’s life that you think needs attention, talk to God about it.  If He agrees with it, and it fits His timing, He will convey the message directly.  If however, you are telling your spouse what you think he should change, it will be impossible to hear God’s voice over the noise.  And besides, when you start complaining, your spouse develops temporary hearing loss!

I can testify that when I became quiet and humbly asked God to reveal/show things to my husband, my husband would come back within one day and say God revealed something to him.  Nothing that I’ve complained to my husband about has ever had a positive effect on him, but when God tells him, it is truly life changing!

Be blessed & QUIET
