Father God, You are worthy, You are Holy! Jesus Christ, You saved me and I will forever be grateful to You! Holy Spirit, You are my everything, my life, my every breath. Amen!
As I write this article, I am so in love. This brings me to the question as to what happens when you fall in love? Being in love means holding hands, your heartbeat races, there is a longing for continuous closeness, you get lost in each other’s eyes and being on cloud 9. You easily see things over, those things which your partner does wrong. So why then does this in love feeling disappear? As you become accustomed to each other, you gradually forget that in love feeling and depending on the situation, you might get more easily angered, irritated and after fights, you start keeping record of the wrongs. This happens because we allow ourselves to lose focus and we end up becoming self-seeking and proud. Different ways exist on how we celebrate love. It could be dating, getting engaged, a wedding, wedding anniversary, birthdays, mothers/father’s day, valentine’s day and most definitely Christmas.
The question is however, why do we celebrate love? Is it to rekindle love, a reminder of what you once had, tradition, and pressure from the world or is it simply out of guilt? Where am I going with this? I’m simply setting the scene of falling in and out of love and the reasons why it happens. The longer you are married, people tend to say that, the in love feeling is replaced with only love. I strongly disagree, because that is where things often go wrong. Never become content with another. Always make effort to rekindle that in love feeling, and then the cloud 9 feeling will continue to exist. I am for sure, after 20 years of marriage, still in love with my husband who still makes my heart beat. Does it take a lot of work? Oh yes, but it starts with a choice and then continuous growth and forgiveness where you hurt another. All of this is off course build on faith in Jesus Christ, who must be the head of each and every marriage.
Now, I indicated that I am in love with my husband, but he is not the only one. I am madly in love with Jesus, my Saviour. How about you or do you ask whether you qualify for His love? What is on your tick list when you ask this question? Is it whether you qualify or not because of deceit, lies, betrayed trust, being negative, shouting at your kids, having debt etc? I want to tell you right now, that Jesus wants you to stop listening to the world, because He already said that you do qualify for his love. He said yes, as He went through beating, tormenting and finally shed His blood on the cross, FOR YOU! Is that not proof enough?
Dear reader, Jesus wants to embrace you with His love. The meaning of embrace is to encircle, to be close, to cling, cherish and to be intimate. When you look at 1 Cor 13, it says that love is patient and kind. It always protects, hopes, perseveres, trusts, tells the truth and never fails. Jesus does all of this for us every day when He embraces us. So this is what we must do as part of keeping that in love feeling. As we live it out in our lives, we actually at the same time, being obedient to Jesus, also build on our in love feeling with Him. We must understand that we need to keep in love with Jesus all the time. Amen! How do we do it? Keep celebrating His love as shown on the cross, talk to God all the time, have conversations with the Holy Spirit, search the heart of God, make the right choices, forgive and forget, read Christian books, listen to Gospel music, study the Word (Bible), fellowship in church, attend prayer groups. Simply dine with Him, share with Him, trust Him and you will hear Him with your heart.
People ask me why I look happy, why I shine and stay positive. Well it is simple, it is because I share in the love of Jesus, which is unbreakable, untouchable and unmistakable. So what are you experiencing? If you have given your life to Jesus and are not daily experiencing that in love feeling, then you will have to determine what is steeling that from you and rid it from your life. You will also have to put in the effort to come close to Him, because remember, He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and if you feel far from Him it is because of something on your side. If you read this article and you have never given your heart to Jesus, do not delay any further. Right where you are, please ask Jesus to come into your heart. Ask Him to take over every area of your life and to forgive you for all the sins that you have committed. He is waiting for you to respond, whether to meet Him for the first time or whether you need to rekindle your love for Him.
May you experience Jesus’ love that is unbreakable, untouchable and unmistakable.
With lots of love in Jesus Name
