There is a golden thread, a thing that connects us to God and nothing else in this world could ever prove to be a better connection than this one thing. Whatever we ever do, nothing holds more power than this, and nothing else in all of existence could ever bring us where we need to be, but this. This is life, this is breath, and this is freedom. This is prayer.
What would a garden, thousands of acres wide, be if not for the colours? What would a song of a legion of angels be if not for the sound? What is life without love, love without relationship and relationship without a way to connect two hearts?
Prayer is the colour, it is the sound and it is the way we find the true value of our salvation. Without it, we have no connection to the keeper of our souls, without it, we have no relationship with our Father and without it, we could never fully experience the mind-blowing and overwhelming love that He is so willing and able to pour into our hearts.
We have all certainly heard people pray and it really isn’t a foreign concept. We all know very well that it is an important aspect of Christian life, but do we truly understand just how important it is? If we neglect anything that God has ever asked us to do or be, let it never be this. The greatest commandment we have is to love our Father God with all our heart, soul and mind and love comes from relationship and relationships are built.
You do not have to understand much about the word of God or imagine yourself to be like some of the Christians you have seen on TV. You do not have to learn to do it, you do not have to be in a certain place to do it and you don’t have to live a perfect life before you try.
God loved us all when we were still sinners, He was ready to love you from even before you were born and wherever you are, in whatever situation you find yourself in, it doesn’t matter in what mess your life may be, what you may think of yourself or even what others think of you, He has no conditions for His love and He knows you better than anyone ever could. He understands everything about you, and He still has a grace ready for you, so rich that you could never comprehend it.
He is not waiting for you to be perfect or even better to start to show you who He is. He wants you to come to Him just as you are and He wants you to seek Him, because what He has to show you, is what will make you want to understand all of what He has given us in His word.
He is not interested in your performance as a Christian, He wants you to really get what it is all about, and that is to know Him first before anything else, and the only way you could get there is to talk to Him.
You don’t have to prepare yourself for it or think about what you want to say, just talk, tell Him how you feel, what you struggle with, what you do not understand, what scares you and ask Him to help you find Him. He says in Jeremiah 29:13 that if you seek Him with all of your heart, then you will find Him, not you might, you will find Him.
He is not trying to hide from you, His ways may seem unnatural to you, but when you do take hold of that golden thread and really pour all of your heart into it, He will deliver, and you will not be disappointed.
Nobody can ever bring you to this intimate place, there is no other way but prayer. Why? Because prayer is personal, it is you and God and what He opens in your heart and mind when you give yourself to Him in this way is what makes you fall in love with the King of Kings, it is what shows you that He is interested in having a loving relationship with YOU.
Take this scripture, make it a lifestyle, and see for yourself what God will show you. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
