Father God, I worship You and You alone. I worship You for who You are and not just for what You do. Jesus, You are my only true friend, who knows my everything. I love You and honour You with all my heart! Holy Spirit, I give You glory and acknowledge You as the every breath I take. You are my life!

Often we find ourselves in situations where we feel so alone, like God does not even exist, like nothing even matters. Although we are amongst others at work or church or even at home, we feel so alone. In other instances, we have made the wrong choices in our lives or perhaps we decided to give up on the things that first mattered so much, like our relationships, our marriage, our hopes and dreams. In all these things we often end up feeling alone, feeling like no one cares, feeling like we are worth nothing, because no matter how hard we try, we are just not getting right, the whole thing of living life. Dear reader at this point I want to tell you that it is exactly as I wrote, it is a mere feeling, not a fact! I want to tell you today, that there are facts in life, like if you have lost a loved one because of illness. Perhaps, right now you don’t have a job.

Perhaps today, you are sitting in your house all alone! Yes, all these things are facts. However, the way they make us feel is a choice. I might be alone, but God is always with me. I might be out of a job, but God is my sole provider. I might have lost a loved one, but I still have a future. You see, we all have challenges and God never said these challenges would be easy; however it would be worth it. I want to share a true story with you. My son came before a challenge in his life, having to make a choice. However the choice he made had negative repercussions. Firstly, because of the choice he made, he started living a lie and this again made him get very ill. As parents we picked up that something was not right with our son, but every time we asked what was wrong, he would say nothing. We started praying earnestly. As he got sicker, we took him to hospital and after weeks, the Doctors could simply not find out what caused this illness. After many tests, they had nothing to tell us except that they had no medical explanation for his condition. We anointed him will oil, we got the pastor to pray and then we received word from two dear friends.

Firstly, we were told that God had showed her that our son’s condition was not what we thought it was and that God would reveal the real reason to us. Secondly we were told that after seeking God in prayer another friend experienced God saying that his condition was not as a result of medical reasons but that there was a spirit of slavery and that fear played a role. I was stunned and immediately started looking into his life with a magnifying glass in terms of who his friends were, what he was watching on TV, the book he was reading and the games he was playing. I wanted to get rid of anything that could have created fear in his life. Furthermore, having been bullied at school, I tried to find out whether something happened, which he did not tell us out of fear. I could not get to any explanation and felt so helpless. I started breaking in the name of Jesus this spirit of slavery over my son’s life. The one day I drove to work in the morning and my husband was at the hospital with my son for more tests. I started praying in the Spirit and simply declared the life that Jesus gave us over my son’s life.

When I got to work, a colleague who is also a pastor prayed with me and the scripture that came to life was Romans 8:2 which say “because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of Life has set us free from the law of sin and death.” At the same time, a pastor was praying on the hospital floor for my son and his father. At that instance, my son was completely healed and although he had more tests to go through, we knew that Jesus stepped in. Amen! A few days later I was sitting on my bed one afternoon with my son, just creating space for him to talk to me. The next thing, he just started telling me, that which has been bothering him since he made a wrong choice in his life. He started crying from within his heart and was not sure how I would respond. I simply embraced him, told him how much I loved him and how proud I was of him telling me the truth, of sharing it with me. His words to me were that he didn’t want to tell us because he was afraid that we would be so disappointed and that we would punish him. He felt so alone and angry with himself and the choice to keep it from us resulted in him getting sick as a result of living in fear, hence becoming a slave of fear. Wow, what a revelation! Praise God.

Why am I telling you this story? You see it is not about the story of just my son, it is the story about me, you, and our families’ lives. It is not about us making wrong choices. We are human and we make mistakes. However, it is what we do after that. Do we repent? Do we share and grow through these wrong choices we have made or do we become slaves of the spirit of slavery in fear that someone will know? Furthermore, I ask you today, are you free or are you living in fear? Now remember there are many things that create fear and I am naming only a few: Lies, Unfaithfulness, The unknown, Being alone, Death, Deceit, The truth, What others might do to you, Danger, Future.

Dear reader, where are you today? What are you going through that has created fear in your life? Do you realise that you are caught up in fear and therefore you have become a slave to the spirit of slavery? Remember, satan is out there trying to destroy us and if he can create fear in our lives, he thinks that he has succeeded in stealing our freedom. The good news is that satan has no future, but we do. The feeling of fear, which is a choice, is only temporarily and changes instantly, once you make a choice not to continue living in fear. Furthermore, many of us don’t even recognise what we fear and therefore, we need to walk continuously with the Spirit of God so that we can hear His voice. Furthermore, I experience that there will be readers reading this article who have to open their hearts to what God wants to tell them today. You might be alone because of a loved one who passed on to heaven. God is with you and although you must allow yourself to go through mourning, there is also a time to step out from it after a period. You need to trust God to show you when the mourning is over.

Now I am not saying that you will ever stop thinking about or miss your loved one, because that will always be there. However, allow God to heal this process and start living in the future. I trust that for whom ever this message is, you will hear God’s voice today and choose to live! Furthermore, there might be some readers who are going through a divorce. The word I have today for you is that only Jesus is the answer. No matter what has happened, God can heal a broken heart and marriage if we allow it. I prayed with a friend who was divorced for more than a year and we started calling in this marriage again. God came through and this couple remarried, once both came to acknowledge Jesus. Now God has a plan and only He knows what the future will bring. So if you in a difficult situation as described above, ask Him what He wants and allow the Spirit of God to guide you. However, never stop believing that you are special and always remember that you are not a failure.

God’s love for you is not dependant on the choices we make, and it is unconditional. All I am saying is, seek God’s heart in the choices you have to make. Dear reader, I now want to encourage you to go and look into your life and break free from any fear. You can conquer fear by trusting God, believing in Jesus, knowing that God and Jesus is with you, that Jesus brings salvation and that he will always fight for us. I would like to share some scriptures with you that have helped me: Romans 8:2, Philippians 4:6-7, Proverbs 18:21, Joshua 1:9, 1 Peter 5:7, James 5:16, Hebrews 13:6, Proverbs 1:33, Mark 5:36, Isaiah 43:5, Psalm 27, Psalm 23. “Lord Jesus, I now pray for each of these special people reading this article and who are challenged with fear, knowingly and unknowingly. Lord, I pray that they will acknowledge who You are and that they will know that Your love for them is not dependant on what they have done.

I now break any spirit of fear in their lives and replace it with your truth, your salvation and above all your love, because Father, through Christ Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life has set them free from the law of sin and death.” Amen! Dear reader, never fear, for God is always with you!

With lots of love in Jesus Name

Princess K
