Have you read the newspaper and listened to the chatter on the bus, at church and at social gatherings? People share their opinions, successes and concerns and it seems to centre around the same topic, the topic of change needed in politics, educational systems, marriages, workplaces, families, healthy living, moral values etc. You name it, and the need for change is bound to come up.
Let us dig a little deeper. According to the online dictionary, the meaning of change is: “make or become different” and “take or use another instead of” and “an act or process through which something becomes different.”
People are searching for answers and means to bring about change and so often it is thought that to create positive change you need to change laws, rules, governments etc. Although there is a need for this positive change, we require a real, lasting change. You see, by changing your diet, will result in a higher quality of life in terms of your health, but the minute when you fall back on your old ways, your body will quickly show the side effects of negative change. So yes, make changes, be more positive, eat healthy, help others, but remember that lasting positive change is only obtained through Jesus Christ. He alone will bring an everlasting change, so we need Him to be the King of our hearts and homes.
To effect real change in our lives, it is critical to know and take up our identities, authority and roles in Christ. Jesus needs to be the King of our hearts, homes, schools, workplaces, governments, finances and countries. We need to allow Him to come into our hearts and change our hearts, because when our hearts change, it will change the way we think, decide and act. Let us use an example. When a man is saved in Christ, taking up his true identity and role in Christ, as king, prophet and priest of his home, he pulls in his wife and kids who also come to know Christ.
Once in Christ, they receive the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit and live it out for others to see that they too, can have this change. Love replaces hate, hope replaces despair, joy replaces sorrow, faith replaces doubt, peace replaces fear, gentleness replaces unkindness and so follows humbleness, forgiveness etc. These are the lasting qualities needed to create a ripple effect and bring about lasting positive change in our families, schools, neighbourhoods, communities, governments, economies, regions and ultimately our countries.
Always remember, together, united in Christ, we are stronger, fearless and unstoppable, hence continuously moving forward to do God’s will. When we read in the Bible from Genesis right through to the end, it is a story of change. It is about God who created us and where He is taking us. God sent Moses, Joseph, David, Paul and many others, to affect change. When the scouts were sent out into the promised land, who helped them? It was Rahab, a prostitute. She helped the spies and through that, she met God. Her choice had a ripple effect on the future of God’s people.
Then there was the lame, sick and demon possessed and each one of them that met Jesus, was touched, healed and changed by Jesus. The Bible gives us the testimonies of the miracles, but just think about what happened thereafter in their homes, towns and cities. Once touched and changed by Jesus and you will never be the same again. You can’t contain it and hence you want to share it. Therefore, once again a ripple effect.
When we decide to follow and be in Christ, the ripple effect is immeasurable. I want to encourage you today to receive the Word from Zechariah 4:6 that says: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” We need Jesus Christ and we need the Holy Spirit in our lives to bring about lasting positive change.
Know today that you, yes you who are reading this message, you are a change agent. When you are in Christ, you are fearless and unstoppable. Move in the authority that Jesus Christ has given you (Luke 10:19) and go and change the world (Matthew 28:19 – 20).
Love in Christ,
Princess K
