Here we are again, strapping ourselves in for another round. Ready or not, 2020 is fired up and waits for nobody. We have our plans and goals, but let’s face it, we really have no idea what is in store for us. Life is crazy, its cruel, its kind, gentle, scary, joyful, out of control, breathtakingly beautiful and sometimes simply just confusing.

It really is a crazy ride, but somehow, we cling to it, because somewhere in the midst of all this mess we find something that makes it all worth it, and that is a little sticky thing called love. Whether it is someone, something or even a place, love is peace and we are drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Thinking back at my childhood, I remember playing outside and not wanting to go inside when I was thirsty, instead I would find an outside tap and then drink from my hands. Picturing this, I thought about how the water would fill my hands so that I could drink from it, knowing that my hands did not supply me with the water to drink, neither did the tap, but that the water came from somewhere else.

As the body of Christ, are we not much like this tap? Millions of tiny points connected to a much greater supply. What we carry as children of God is not something we store, own or have created, it simply just flows to and through us. We are not a container or a dam, we are a tap, all connected to One supply.

Jesus called us to be a part of something greater, not to contain it, but to become a point of access. In John 4:13 – 14 Jesus said: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Jesus called us to spread a message, to spread the good news of the Gospel that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. and that He has given us the free gift of salvation. If we open our taps, we will find thirsty people and they will come, some might see the water and ignore it, some might even drink some, but never search for the supply themselves. But some will come thirsty, thirsty enough to want more and when they do, they will find Jesus. Not because you gave them the water, but because Jesus did, you simply just allowed Him to move through You.

This water heals, saves, revives and can raise an army from dry bones, and you are absolutely privileged to be a witness. What is the status of your tap? Do you have any idea the power that can move though you if you only allowed it? Sometimes we pray for people and in our lack of faith we are scared to open our tap, because we fear that God would not move through us. Some people even say that the thirsty one needs the faith, but a cup cannot determine whether a tap opens or not, the supply is there, the need is there it is only the tap that needs to make way.

The love Christ has for us is unconditional, endless and unbreakable. There is nothing stronger or more valuable. He is the only thing that can bring sense to this crazy mess we call life. His love makes it worth it, His love bring us through the deepest water and the hardest storms and we can’t give people a quick fix in tiny bits and sips, we need to let Jesus move freely so that He can completely heal those that thirst.

Let 2020 be a year of free-flowing water, give God the chance to work through you. Love people, love them with everything you have, even when they don’t love you back, because God loved you even when you were still a sinner, He never cut you off, He never left you thirsty even when you have wondered off.

May 2020 be a crazy year for you in all the best ways. God bless you and keep you safe. With all our love we wish you a very happy new year!
