True Love

TRUE LOVE

What is true love? I think there will be many different responses to this question. Some answers will probably include “everlasting, unconditional support, forgiveness, to never give up” etc. Now all of this is very true but let me give you my definition by means of explanation.

I was born on 24 June 1971, which is 1 971 years after Christ. How amazing is it not, to know that even before I was born, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for me (John 3:16)? 2 Corinthians 5:21 says: “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” THAT my dear reader, is TRUE LOVE. Amen!

After Jesus was arrested, Peter, one of His beloved disciples, denied Him three times (John 18:15 – 27). How that must have hurt Jesus. Also, Jesus, whilst hanging on the cross, asked God to forgive the people who did that to Him, for they did not know what they were doing (Luke 23:34). If Jesus, the Son of God still loved those who denied Him and crucified Him as well as to die for me and every sin that I would still commit, is that then not incomprehensible, unconditional, immeasurable and unfailing true love? That love, concurred death and gives us eternal life. You can’t buy it and you can’t earn it. It is there, free and for everyone who acknowledges and then choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Amen!

It is almost Easter and during the period of Lent, I committed myself in a time of fasting and prayer. I realised once again that the closer we get to God and the more we seek Him, the more we will hear and experience Him. I want to share a message of truth and hope with you. JESUS LOVES YOU, no matter who you are, what you have done or how far you feel from God right now. You see, no matter how far you have run away from Him, the Gospel and the Truth, the minute you stop and turn around, Jesus will still be standing there, arms wide open, ready to embrace you. You only need to choose it. The reality is, you can run as fast and far as you can, for days, months and years, but it will not change the fact that God is omnipresent.

Psalm 139:7 – 12: “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there…..If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even then darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.” It says in Jeremiah 29:12 – 14: ““Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.””

I want to encourage you today, to stop running and to allow TRUE LOVE to take over your heart, life, thoughts and decisions. Life is so hard as it is, why on earth would anyone want to try and live it by themselves? At some point in time, somewhere, you find yourself alone or having to face unthinkable challenges. So yes, even when you are in Christ, you will still feel the pressures of life and challenges will be even more fierce at times, but You have Jesus to go through it with you. You are not alone! Yes, He can take it away and He can even not allow it to happen at all. However, that is not what life is about. It is about living, experiencing, having a free will of choice (your gift from God) and with that growing, loving and supporting others, even if it hurts.
