MIGHT HAVE FAILED BUT NEVER A FAILURE
Father, I start this article by giving You glory and You alone! You are my God and Jesus, my Saviour and without You am I nothing. Thank You Holy Spirit for reigning inside of me! Amen!
Sitting in front of the television, watching an IPL 2016 cricket game, one realise that it takes a whole team to win a match. All the players in this tournament were carefully chosen and selected based on their experience and excellent track record. However, it does happen where a player walks onto the field; all fired up to score a 50, only to leave with a duck. Sometimes it even happens that the player has a low score for a couple of games after another but it does not mean because he failed that he is a failure. He is still a world class cricket player. Amen!
In today’s article I want to write about the reality that we as humans fail, but that does not mean that we are failures. What we need to understand is that we live in a world where many people either don’t know Christ or they are not in a personal relationship with Him. There are also many who are in Christ but they don’t believe and live the truth that they can achieve all things through Christ. Either way, in all these cases people are lost to the truth that they are not failures. In God’s eyes no one is a failure. If we believe the Bible then we must believe the truth of Genesis 1 verse 27 that says that we are created in the image of God.
Therefore, I tell you today that you are worthy, special and able because God makes no junk! Whether you believe this or not, it is the truth over your life. You are not a failure, never was and never will be! Amen! We need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth, died on the cross and rose on the third day after overcoming satan and death. When we accept Jesus into our hearts the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and empowers us daily. There is so much power in believing, choosing and living this truth in your life.
I want to share something interesting with you that I read in an article on https://www.wanderlustworker.com/12-famous-people-who-failed-before-succeeding/ about famous people who failed before succeeding. Three such people are Stephen King, Colonel Sanders and Thomas Edison. From the article I quote the following:
“Stephen King is famous for many critically-acclaimed novels, most of which have been made into movies. However, Stephen King’s first novel, Carrie, was rejected 30 times before it was published. Not only that, but King actually threw the manuscript into the garbage, only later to be retrieved by his wife who wildly believed in his dream of becoming a published author.”
“Colonel Sanders was the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Sanders worked many jobs including fireman, tire salesman, insurance salesman, and of course, a cook. He brewed up his secret chicken recipe between 1939-1940 when he figured out how to pressure fry the chicken in a faster and more consistent product all the time. He was at the age of 50 when that happened. However, it wasn’t until 1952 that he hit the road and began trying to sell his franchise-model chicken restaurant. The first restaurant that he landed was based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, which became the first Kentucky Fried Chicken. The restaurant tripled its sales within a year where 75% of that revenue was from the colonel’s chicken. The company grew and expanded faster than he could have ever imagined.”
“This famous American is attributed with failing over 10,000 times to invent a commercially viable electric lightbulb, but he didn’t give up. When asked by a newspaper reporter if he felt like a failure and if he should give up, after having gone through over 9,000 failed attempts, Edison simply stated “Why would I feel like a failure? And why would I ever give up? I now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric lightbulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp.” This is also the same person whose teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything,” and fired from his first two employment positions for not being productive enough. However, Edison, through his failures, is also the greatest innovator of all time with 1,093 US patents to his name, along with several others in the UK, and Canada. This is someone who refused to ever give up no matter what.”
You might read about my three examples and think “but I am not famous, I don’t have special talents and I am not creative nor innovative.” Dear reader, don’t you understand that God took ordinary people who used their God given talent to achieve their dreams. I am sure there were times when they felt despondent, unworthy and even doubted themselves and possibly God. However, their success story is also motivation and proof that they never gave up. They had a dream, they set goals and they persevered even though they have failed many times before. You see, it is not about being perfect and it is not about being successful the first, second or third time. It is about believing in yourself, in the ability that God has given you the day He created you in His image (Gen 1:27).
You have been created for great things and whether you will be successful in them is really now a matter of you believing it and pursuing it, making it a reality. God has done what He could by creating you in His image and by giving you His son Jesus. The question is, do you believe it and have you invited Jesus into your life? You have everything it takes to be successful, so stop living a mediocre life when you are destined for so much more. No more excuses and no more doubt. Push yourself to go beyond all previous limitations. Believe that in Christ you can do everything (Phil 4:13). Believe that you have all the abilities you need as they have been imprinted in your make-up by God Himself (Mat 21:22, Eph 1:3).
No matter how many times you have tried, don’t give up. Don’t do anything alone, invite Jesus into your heart to help you to reach your goals. Make sure you take every dream to God. Talk to Him and ask Him for direction, making sure that you move in His will. Believe that you are good enough and believe that you can achieve the impossible (John 20:29,). You might have failed many times before, don’t let it stop you. Dream big, obtain God’s blessing before taking action, set your goals, work hard, persevere, get up when you fall and push toward success.
Dear reader, no matter whether you want to cater, bake, paint, design, motivate people or write, whatever it might be, go for it! Perhaps you have a challenge to overcome a bad habit or to stop sinning in a specific area. The same truth of Christ’s power in you and you having the ability to overcome, applies here. Don’t give up and don’t listen to satan’s lies about your life. You are destined for great things. You can do this through Christ Jesus! Amen!
Winston Churchill said: “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” You might have failed many times, but know this today, YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!
Lots of love
