Dear friends in Christ,
I am blessed to have the opportunity to write another article and I give my God all the glory for Who He is and for every blessing I receive from His hand.
The other day I found myself expressing angry and negative feelings to someone about a certain person who has really hurt me very deeply with words recently. I was immediately aware of it not being the right way to act and I apologised to the Lord and thanked Him for forgiveness for all my sins according to 1 John 1:9 and Acts 3:19. It made me realise though how easily we allow satan to steal from us, by acting the way he wants us to. None of us want to make satan happy but we all seem to achieve exactly this so often, without even trying. Why?
Because satan knows how our human brains and also our emotions work. If we are hurting, we want to retaliate and pay back- if we live according to our own human desires – but once we have given our lives to God, we become a new creation in Christ (2 Cor 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”)
This means that we allow God’s Spirit to permeate our lives and lead us in deciding how to react in every situation we come across. Or that’s how it’s supposed to be, yet we aren’t always so successful in real life. I am not, anyway.
The truth we need to accept is that satan focuses even more on God’s children then on those who live in the world when he is looking to hurt and betray because he thinks it is a much bigger success when he achieves his goal in the life of a so called born again child of God. Fortunately we know the truth- satan can never achieve success in anything he attempts- especially in the life of a Christian, because he has already been defeated and he has already lost in every way.
Yet we keep on falling for his meagre attempts at feeding us lies, because even though we are no longer living in the dark we still have emotions like any other person and it can feel so rewarding to retaliate when you are angry and to say hurtful things back at the one who hurt you or gossip about that person. Thank God, that every time we fall for that, the Holy Spirit inside of us will immediately make us aware of how wrong we are acting and we will be filled with shame and sorrow about doing it straight away. We will therefore not be able to enjoy any hateful emotions and we will not be able to give satan any satisfaction, because for a child of God, living everyday in His light, repentance comes naturally! Praise our awesome God for changing our very spirits the day we accept Him and for planting in us a natural need for doing what He wants us to do!
So today there are two things we need to realise:
1) We will always be challenged by satan while we are here on earth and he will keep on
feeding his lies to us in the hope that we will fall for it, but take courage, if God lives in
us we will never be able to fall for satan’s lies because He who is in us is greater than
he who is in the world. ( 1 John 4:4.) Therefore let us be aware of who we are and
remind ourselves daily of Who our God is so that we can become stronger and more full
of faith, knowing that we are more than conquerors in Christ. ( Rom 8:37.) The stronger
we are in Christ, the more we show satan we will never fall for his lies!
2) If you manage to eat satan’s lies over and over again and you find that retaliation and
hateful feelings, anger, revenge or jealousy still makes you feel like you are achieving
something and like you have proved your point to whomever it is that hurt you then I
have to tell you that you have not yet given your life to the Lord and you have not yet
been filled with His Holy Spirit.
If this is the case and you would like to be free of all those ugly things, if you no longer
want to please satan and fall for His lies, you need to go down on your knees and tell
God that you give your life to Him and that you believe that Jesus died for your sins and
rose again so that you can have eternal life!Tell God that you accept His forgiveness and
repent for the things that you have done wrong. You will be awakened to a new life, free
to live in God’s light and al those negative things will no longer seem attractive to you at
all! That is true freedom and that is showing satan that he has no control over your life
anymore!
Dear Lord, Thank You for Your Spirit that fills my heart and that because of You living
in me satan can never lie to me again. Lord, if there are people reading this prayer now
who still fall for the lies of the deceiver, I pray that Your love will fill them now, leading
them to Your light so that they too will know what freedom is and that they too will live
a new life in You! Lord You are everything and You are all to me. Amen.
Expect the unexpected and be fearless in Christ.
