Father God, who am I without You? You chose me and appointed me to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. Thank you Father for believing in me. Amen! Jesus Christ, You are my Saviour and I live for You alone! Amen! Holy Spirit, You are my every breathe and I simply can’t live without you! Amen!
We were driving to the grocery store one Saturday afternoon when we spotted a lady on her way back from the store, walking towards her home. She was bending over and one could see se was in pain. We felt led by the Holy Spirit to pull over and ask her if she was in need of help, which we did. She was not feeling well and was challenged with a chest infection, on the verge of collapse. We offered to take her home. In the next hour that passed, we learnt that the lady was very lonely with her children that migrated to another country. She was heartbroken and did not feel like going on in life. We settled her down, gave her something to eat and helped her with a few chores. Once more calm, we prayed with her and finally left. We contacted her and took some food over. After a few weeks we learnt that she was moving closer to other family who could take care of her and also she would again be closer to her own church. Praise God for breathing fresh life into this lady! Amen!
Many often think that because of them things are happening. What do you think? Do things happen because of us or simply by chance? Let us have a look at the Word of God in the book of John. John 3:1 – 10 tells us how a man crippled from birth was healed when Peter said: “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” What happened were a miracle and all the glory to God. What is also important here is that Peter and John were going up to the temple and when the man saw them, and asked for money, Peter reacted by declaring healing over his life.
During Jesus to My Rescue (JTMR) outreaches we go to areas in need of Christ where there is a hunger for Jesus, a desire to be healed physically, a need to eat and a desire to feel loved. We then minister the Word of God, feed the hungry, pray for healing and give love and hugs for those in need.
Dear reader let us tie up the three things I have mentioned in this article. Picking up the lady in need of help on her way from the grocery store, Peter speaking life in Jesus name over the crippled man and what happens at the JTMR outreaches, all have two things in common. Firstly, the presence and voice of the Holy Spirit giving direction and secondly the fact that when people turn up, things happen. What I am trying to say is that when we pray in our homes there is lots of power for God says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective (James 5:16). The same applies for when people turn up. A party is not a party when you are alone, correct? Only when the guests turn up does the party begins and everyone enjoys themselves.
The same principle applies for the work of the Lord. We need to turn up, whether it is in prayer or physically to make a difference. There is such a need by the world for change. Many people are hurting physically, emotionally and spiritually. Yes, prayer is powerful but sometimes it means to climb out of our comfort zones to make a difference. Next time you drive, look around you. Who needs Jesus and who needs you to turn up for them? It might be a smile, a kind word, a prayer. Sometimes by just helping someone carry their bags could change that person’s outlook on life forever.
Finally, let us look at the life of Jesus. If God did not send His son to earth, He would not have been crucified. His blood would not have set us free. Do we understand what the implications of this would have been? Thank You Jesus for turning up for us, setting us free and giving us eternal life. Amen!
Dear reader, let us pray earnestly but let us also go one step further and turn up to make a difference in this world, just like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ did.
Lots of love

PS: Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version. If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly. A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your Bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible. This does not always occur, but happens in some instances.
