Father God, thank you for being my Father, always looking out for me.  You always hold my interest at heart.  You love me and guide me.  I love you!  Jesus, You make my heart beat faster.  You are my Saviour and best friend.  Holy Spirit I feel You in side of me and I hear You with my heart.  Glory to Jesus!  Amen!

This past week has been challenging for me at work and I found myself more than once, thinking and speaking negatively.  Hence I had to ask forgiveness, even for the same thing, more than once.  What I am trying to say is that we as Christians are only human and we also make mistakes, get angry and loose our temper.  The difference is we are saved.  When we do wrong, the Holy Spirit shows it to us and then we ask and receive God’s forgiveness, with the aim to work hard at not doing it again.  What I am trying to get at is really the issue around negativity.  Off late we hear of so many challenges around negativity.

Christians so easily find themselves challenged with negative thoughts and before they know it, they start speaking negative as well.  The thing about negativity is that it spreads like fire.  For example, have you ever found yourself standing in someone’s company when the topic changes to the crime levels in our country or how the petrol price has increased budget expenditure in homes?  Before you know it, you have allowed yourself to be pulled into the discussion.  Now the discussion itself is not wrong, but normally ends up in some form of negative reaction or feeling.  Daily exposure to negativity, when not dealt with, grows and when you open your eyes again, you are at the point of finding fault with every little thing that goes wrong in your life.

Dear reader, where am I going with this?  The master behind negativity is none other than satan.  His aim in life is to make us doubt, feel miserable and think that we have no future.  Well, he is a liar, we know it and yet we fall into the trap so many times.  The challenge is that the more negative you get, the more you invite the spirit of depression to come closer.  Once this is allowed, one tends to lose focus completely.  Hence, People eventually think that life is not worth living anymore.  This is a danger zone and many Christians find themselves in this situation.  Now, what are we to do differently?

God says in John16:33 “….in this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”  You see it is not that there are not challenges.  Off course there is, for as long as satan is on earth, we will face many challenges daily.  The difference is that if we are in Christ and He in us, He as our Saviour has redeemed us.  He already overcame every challenge.  What He asks from us is to stay focussed and not to run off on a negative tangent when things go wrong.

We have to go back to the Bible and proclaim in faith John 16:33.  The battle is not ours to fight for it has already been won.  Don’t get involved in the fight, proclaim the victory already achieved and that means that you will have to stay positive and keep faith no matter how bad the circumstances look to you.  I tell you, this is not easy and Jesus of all people knows how it feels.  Remember, He was the one on the cross thinking that His Father has forsaken Him.  He knows it is not easy, but He also knows that with perseverance comes success.

I am not sure what you are being challenged with right now.  It might be pressure at work, finances, relationships, marriage or just being alone.  I know that challenges are hard and I also know that satan does not want us close to God, positive or happy.  Hence everyday we should pray and proclaim God’s truth over our lives.  Every day, you must choose to be positive, no matter what.  Every day you have to, in faith, declare that you are blessed and are in no need of anything.  No matter how it looks, keep on being positive and proclaim that positiveness as truth into every area of your life.  Also read Heb 11:1 again.

Come on, we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ (Rom 8:37).  Keep yourself from negative thoughts and when you step into a room where it is happening, walk away praying the truth.  Don’t let your circumstances and the world dictate you.  When born in Christ, you are no longer subject to this world.  You have the power to change anything in the will of God.  Seek His heart, pray continuously and open your heart to the truth.  Just to add, also remember that in all situations in our lives, workplace and in our country we have a choice.  Even when things are looking bad, pray God’s blessing into the situation.  God says in Jer 29:7: “…pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

We have the power to change any situation around us.  Let us choose to be positive and see how we stay victorious through all the challenges thrown at us.  Come on, we can do it! (Phil 4:13)

With lots of love in Jesus Name

PS:  Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version.  If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly.  A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible.  This does not always occur, but has happened in some instances.
