You say it’s impossible?

Father I glorify you as the one and only God! Jesus you are holy and my best friend! Holy Spirit you reign in my heart, you are every breath I take. I love you!

I start this article with one of my own personal experiences. I have been praying for a new car for about 2 years now and was still grateful for my 1997 Ford Escort, a gift from God about 9 years ago. About 3 years ago the engine seized after the water pump broke, hence costing us about R15 000 to repair. Subsequently the car has been given us challenges every now and then, with about R20 000 being spent in the past 6 months. This week I was travelling to work and once I parked, I realised that there was water spraying up from under the engine cap. Luckily it was only a crack in the water reservoir and the mechanic was able to replace it for only R150. However the next day as I was travelling in peak traffic on the N1 to work, I heard a loud noise and then lost power, resulting in a breakdown on the road. I felt so helpless and angry with GOD. I said I can’t take this anymore and that I can’t go around doing work for Him in a car that is not reliable. A few hours later, I heard that the thermostat broke, hence the fan did not go on, the water did not flow to the engine and once again the engine seized. I can’t even begin to explain my emotions. Immediately I said: “Lord what now, how can we afford a new car?” He answered me with Mark 10 verse 27 which says “with man this is impossible but not with God, all things are possible with God.” The peace of Phil 4 verses 6 – 7 came over me and I knew that God was going to help me if I believe. The good news is, within 1 week a miracle happened and I am now the owner of a 2008 Toyota Yaris. Praise Jesus, He came to my rescue!

Why am I telling you about this miracle? Firstly, we must testify with miracles because then we proclaim victory over our challenges. Remember the greatest miracle of all was that Jesus overcame death and the more people we tell, the wider the news of the gospel and the power of God will spread. Secondly, perhaps you are currently faced with the biggest challenge of your life. Maybe your challenge is health, finance, your marriage, work or quarrels in your family. You might have even spoken death over your life by saying things like, it is over, I don’t care anymore, I can’t take it anymore, I’m in trouble etc. Many people experience these emotions and it is only human to feel like that, especially if it has been going on for years. But dear reader there is a way out, but only if you believe.

Rom 4 vs 1 – 25 tell us the story of how Abraham was justified by faith. You see the scripture says that Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. Although he was about 100 years old and Sarah’s womb was also dead, God gave him word that he will have an offspring and will be the father of many nations. Abraham believed God and focussed on the Lord’s promise instead of his age. You see with man it was impossible that Sarah could fall pregnant, but not with God, all things are possible with God and the result of Abraham’s faith was God’s promise, an offspring named Isaac.

Dear reader, if we realise that our focus should not be on the things that are going wrong, but rather on Christ, and believe that He will help us, the promise of His word will become visible in our lives. Remember God’s Word, the Bible is true, full of many promises. He only has plans to prosper you and not to harm you and He will fulfil this Word as indicated in 2 Cor 1 vs 20 “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “YES” in Christ. And so through Him the Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God.”

I want to challenge you dear reader. Take all your challenges, fears and concerns and lay them at the Lord’s feet. Ask Him to forgive you for doubting His Word. Acknowledge that you believe in Him and in His promise to never leave nor forsake you. Then sit back and allow Jesus to work in your life. This does not mean that no challenges will be coming your way; however it means that with Jesus you can face them all. Don’t fear your challenges, Jesus has overcome all of them already and with Him in your heart, you will be able to face and overcome the impossible if you believe in His word. He will make all things right in His time.

Remember that it says in 2 Cor 4 vs 8 – 9, “we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. You don’t have to face the challenges alone because “with man this is impossible but not with God, all things are possible with God!”

With lots of love in Jesus Name
