WHY ARE YOU CRYING? THE CROSS IS EMPTY! THE GRAVE IS EMPTY AND JESUS IS ALIVE!
Father, how wonderful to know that You are my King and that I can call You Father! Jesus Christ, you are my everything and I acknowledge you as my Saviour. Amen! Holy Spirit you are in control of my heart and without you I cannot live. Glory to God the Father, Jesus Christ my Saviour and the Holy Spirit of God living inside of me. Amen!
Oh how wonderful to know that it is that time of the year when Christians all over the world are celebrating Easter in memory of what our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. It makes me realise all over again how special we are for Jesus; so special that He gave His life even though He did nothing wrong. Such an unselfish act, so obedient to His Father’s will, even though He knew what was coming and that it was not going to be easy. Thank you Jesus for giving Your life so that I can live forever. Amen!
Dear reader, my message to you for the 2015 Easter period is that we should celebrate life; the life we were given through Christ’s victory on the cross. So many of us go into a mourning period over Easter and don’t get me wrong I also get emotional and cry when thinking about how our Saviour Jesus Christ was beaten, cursed and tortured, left hanging on the cross to die. However, when one of my colleagues told me about what their pastor shared with them, it once again struck me as well that we get so emotional about the build up to and the crucifixion itself, that we lose focus on why it happened. What am trying to say? In John 14 verses 15 – 31, we read about Jesus speaking with his disciples prior to him being arrested.
He tells them that the prince of this world was going to come for Him and that although he has no hold on Him, Jesus had to do exactly as His Father commanded Him to do. He also tells them to be strong and not to be afraid as the Spirit of truth and peace will be with them as their Counselor. Yes, Jesus knew He was going to endure hardship in the highest degree. Yet, He also knew that Father God was in Him and He was in Father God, and therefore He understood His mission and executed it till death. How marvelous to know that Jesus went all the way, knowing who He was in Father God and that identity is what helped Him to be obedient giving eternal life to me and you.
Dear reader, so here we are thousands of years later and not only did Jesus die on the cross, but He also rose on the third day after overcoming death and sin, making me and you who stand in Him, righteous. Now let us go back to His words in John 14:26 – 27: “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
When we read the above scripture of truth, it is very clear that even today thousands of years later, Jesus wants us to have peace and not to be troubled. Until this day, those words of truth are deposited into our hearts and minds by the Holy Spirit, who is the Counselor that Father sent. Do you realise that this means that after the fulfilment of the Word, Jesus died, he overcame sin and death and is now alive in Heaven preparing a way for all of us? Praise God! So if we realise what this means, then my question is, why are we crying during Easter?
Now I’m not saying we may not cry. I am simply asking why are we crying? Is it because of the trauma Jesus went through and it is tears of sadness, or are they tears of joy in celebration of the victory Jesus established? Yes, let us think back and let us have a moment of feeling that emotion inside of us, but don’t allow yourself to focus 90% of the Easter period in mourning, when you should be celebrating at the foot of the empty cross and the empty grave!
Dear reader, my message today as I said before is a message of life. Let us go into this Easter with a different approach, never forgetting what Jesus had to go through and having the greatest honour and respect towards Him for that. However, let our focus be mainly on the celebration of eternal life through Him overcoming satan and death. This is big as it means nothing in this world can ever overcome you when you stand in Christ Jesus. No matter who or what challenge you, the blood of Christ is stronger. Amen! Furthermore, let this moment not be restricted to Easter, but to your everyday walk of life. Christ is victory and therefore you are victorious. Hallelujah!
“As we come into your presence with praise, Lord we adore You! As we come into your presence with praise Lord we exalt You. As we come into Your presence with praise Lord we worship You. As we come into Your presence of praise, we acknowledge life through You!” Amen!
Let us not forget that we now live in His victory and that peace and the truth of the gospel of Christ is alive in us! Amen! Do you believe this? If yes, then why are you crying? Is it only about the pain Jesus faced or are your crying tears of joy? Remember, the cross is empty and so is the grave. Our King, Jesus Christ is alive! Shout it out from the rooftops and celebrate life through Him. Amen!
Lots of love
PS: Dear reader, please remember that the scripture used are from the New International Version. If the scripture is read in another language and translation it might differ slightly. A verse in the NIV might be a different one in your Bible, i.e. Ps 37:3 in the NIV might be Ps 37:4 in your bible. This does not always occur, but happens in some instances.
