Let it rain

Jesus to my Rescue    March 25, 2013    Comments Off on Let it rain

Dear friends in Christ,

Today I am writing to you with a song of joy in my heart. We have such an amazing God and to experience His love is something this world could never give us, no matter what. Praise Jesus!!

Seeing how quickly time passes and that we are already so close to Easter again, makes me think of all the things I trust God for during 2013. So many times we keep on praying and asking and praying and asking and all we notice is time is passing and we are STILL asking. I want to share with you 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 from the Message translation. “Whenever though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are – face to face!

They suddenly recognise that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiselled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Sprit, that old constricting legislation is recognised as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of His face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like Him.”

I took this part of scripture and started praying daily for it to become more of a reality in my life. That is what we all want, isn’t it? To become more and more like God, growing closer to Him in our lives, hearts and spirits. I want to experience streams of living water flowing from my heart and in my life! John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”  John 4:14 “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

So then, last night, I had this dream. I was in the backseat of a car, trying to look out through the side window. The glass was wet and full of water pouring down as it was raining outside. I remember clearly how I struggled to see through the window, but eventually I did. I was staring at the bush. But the trees were all black and dead, like they were scorched in a fire, all burnt out. The longer I looked though, the more I noticed that between all the dead black tree stumps and burnt out branches, little green leaves and sprouts were springing up, and although the dead black bush was the most noticeable thing I saw, once I noticed the green bits in between, I realised it was actually a very pretty picture.

The next moment I was wide awake and was singing the praise and worship song “let it rain, let it rain, open the floodgates of heaven” in my head. Dear friends, at that very moment, it was crystal clear to me that God was saying: “Look, I have already sent the rain! New life is growing where the old life has died. Streams of My living water are already flowing, but you keep on staring into the glass. Look through the glass and see what I am already doing.”

Dear readers, I am crying while writing this to you, because I am so grateful that we have such an awesome God! But at the same time it hurts to think that we don’t notice what God is doing in our lives. We keep on asking, but we never stop to take a look at what God is already doing. It brings up Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

And YES, since I also absolutely believe and experience 2013 as a year of growth in our lives and also in our relationships with God, I want to ask you to take a moment, stop asking, step back and look at what God is already doing in your life. See how He is already helping you grow. You will be amazed, as I was, when you realise you have become too busy asking to see the work that has already been done in your lives.

Father God, Lord of Lords and King of my life, I have no words to thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank you Lord, that we can stand on every promise You make. Thank you that Isaiah 55:11 is true and that no word that goes from Your mouth will return to You void, but that it will accomplish what You please and prosper in the thing for which You sent it. Will you help us Lord, not to be so preoccupied with asking, that we forget to look around and see what we are already receiving. God You are everything, and I give my life to you alone. All my praise, all my honour and ALL the glory to You alone! Amen.

Be fearless in Christ!
